Di marzio tone zone muddy on a les paul

Especially when playing 11- 48 strings it sounds really muddy, with no clarity. Too much mud for the chug chug thing I like lol. I ve tried asjusting the height but it gets a lot gainless.Has anyone ever had the simolar experience?

IMO, a tone zone is best suited to a super strat to equal out the effects of a fast neck/floyd....and it works wonderfully for that. A Les Paul needs a different tone curve IMO. What value pots are in your Les Paul?

Ditto. The tone Zone thickens up thin sounding guitars with Floyds very well. I’d never put one in a LP.

Yup, the ToneZone is a problem solver for bright guitars, and in the right guitar it sounds great.
Definitely not the right PU in a Les Paul.

Side note: If you do have a bright guitar and are considering a ToneZone, look at the Motor City Afwayu. Same kinda thing, just way better on every level.

Never played the tone zone, but the Dominion sounds great for chug a chug in a LP. Its a bit dry and it doesn't hit the amp hard, but through a high gain amp it is pretty cool. Tight and nasty!

Cool...The Air/Tone Zone have been my home base bridge pup for years on my Ibby/Charvel...and it just works. If the Afwayu has less of the "aww" inherent to the Zones high strings, I may be interested. The Zones have such an awesome squish on palm mutes(even on the unwound strings), it's hard for me to kick that lol.

I have a Tone Zone in a maple top mahogany back Ibanez Destroyer, no mud... same woods, scale length etc... as a Les Paul, FWIW.

Well I have it installed in a 90s samick les paul artist - wonderful player btw- and it does sound really muddy! Maybe I should just switch it with my breed which is in my kramer pacer...

Try a 36th anniversary PAF, have one in my Love Rock and it sounds righteous.

Hmm it does look inferesting but it might be a bit less gainy than those that I'm used to. Does it chug? Hahah

your destroyer will be 25mm (1 inch) thinner than a les paul so that makes a huge difference. Also I have found pointier guitars in general sound a little thinner

depending on the LP its pretty close (customs are thicker). Measure the thickness as close as you can to where the neck meets the body. Last one I had was around 75mm and most other guitars are 40-45mm
