picked this amp up yesterday so i figured id do a vid im playing my esp kamikaze with an emg 81 in the bridge

let me know what you think of the tones

Dang, that's mean sounding. Didn'trealize they could get that nasty. I'd back off the gain a bit but judging from the posters on your wall that's a killer tone for that type of music.

Whoa, I didn't realize the 50 cals got that nasty either. Sounds pretty wicked

yea these have lots of gain and get pretty damn brootz ...... just with my emg equipped guitar it gets sooo damn angry and its a tight little fucker too ..... im really diggin the el84s

deff an awesome little monster of an amp, ther not expensive and they are really light and easy to carry around

who needs one of those 10 watt lunchbox tube amps when you could just buy one of these :dunno:

and the 50 watts is damn loud it keeps up with my 150 watt kt88 twin jet

That sounds KILLER, the Calibers are HIGHLY underrated amps, I love my DC-10, things are just mean sounding.

yea i really think its a cross between the mark series tightness and the rectos agressive touch

its deff more mark-ish but its still a sick combo of tones

I love the fish on the right side going nuts
The 22 and 50 calibers are serious high gain amps.
They are based on the Mark series.
And their cleans can be dialed in beautifully.
I still have my 22 I bought in 89

I also own a Caliber, and this thread if fun reading :)
They are downright brutal. I played mine LOUD at a gig a couple of months ago.
Gain @ around 6-7, master @ 6.

Very pleasing

Here`s a small clip of mine before I put it in a rack-kit. Volume barely on, and just a regular digital camera`s mic.

yea my fish go nuts when i play my amps they seem to enjoy it .... seems like they start ther own little mosh pit

and yea this amp with the master at 6 is pretty damn loud it really starts to punch you in the chest at that point and man is it a nice feeling

im really diggin these el84s

I have a friend looking at getting a used DC5, they want $450 or 495 for it, can't remember. When he was trying it out, he thought the gain was pretty brutal (like the vid). Can these amps do any lower gain stuff? Do you dial them in like a mark series amp in general?

They can but not as well as most other mesas. They can be a bit muddy. And most of the Calibers have 6L6s. For my tastes I like 34s for lower gain crunch

I use to own one just like it. After hearing your clip, makes me wish I still had it!

sounds hot rodded. I had one. It was great for santana type stuff not rockin like that.
