This was the first song that I remember that had the first incarnation of chugging. I always thought the last few bars of the song were especially cool in that regard. I'm not a huge Heart fan per se but this song and Magic Man are all time greats imo.

Love this song. Fun to play too. Very chuggy. Alt picking is super cool but
I'm sure there are some better examples.
Priest maybe?
Communication Breakdown :dunno:
For me - I will probably always give Eddie and Unchained the credit because because.

Good god that Zepplin. ?
Gallop chug. It’s all there.
but yes Heart on Magic Man to me..... was the first Chug that I remember.

For earlier, I think of Black Sabbath, and Children of the Grave.
OK, yeah that does chug and way earlier. But I was 7...too heavy for my virgin ears. I wouldn't discover Sabbath for another 2-3 years.

Funny I was born 71. Never really knew half the heavy stuff till teen years. My first experience with sabbath was Paranoid
Probably early teen.

Again. Too many out there ?
Least for me
raised on Kiss and AC/DC.
No chugging there in the 70s. Haha

Heh. These nerds these days think they invented djent. It was around 50 years ago. The more things change the more they stay the same

Tony Iommi....1968.
About eight years before Barracuda.

Black Sabbath was my favorite band in 1972.

I recommend to Roger Fisher the amp he now uses. We were having a discussion about amps and I recommend the THD Flexi to him many years ago. It's been his main amp since then.

Twenty five years ago I was hanging out with Howard Leese and he sat in with my band at a few shows.

I meet Nancy Wilson in 1986. She introduced herself to me at a show I did at the Central Tavern in Seattle.
