and I LOVED it! Got the RP1000 for $279 new from zZounds on a scratch and dent. Not a scratch anywhere to be found. I am guessing from the packaging it was probably a returned item or floor demo.

I also got a 600 watt Alto power 10" wedge for stage reference. I spent 20 - 30 minutes dialing in a few patches using X-Edit and played the gig the same night. All in all, I can not complain about the sound I got. The wedge was plenty load for me to hear and it took 10 minutes for me to set up on stage and be ready rock.

I know there are certainly "better" modelers but I have learned a very valuable lesson … no one but me cares about how good my tone is at a corporate event! LOL!

I'll save the Quick Rod for the metal band.

Here's a crappy phone vid showing the lead tone. I am the guy on the right playing the start.

Unless a venue has a crappy PA system that's the way to go. I can't remember how many shows we've played where I've had my tube amp turned down so low for the sound guy that any tone or feel advantage over a modeler was completely gone.

I hear you. Love the hell out of my Quick Rod but we get put in some really interesting environments for this gig and this solution is amazing. Honestly, I have thought that eventually I may grab a Kemper or an Axe FX but … I know no one cares. They were all dancing and partying just fine with my low budget solve.

A buddy on GAB posted a clip of his Boss ME-70 and Behringer Ultra G. Very inexpensive set up and sounded excellent. It's very easy to get caught up in the "latest/greatest" especially for me. A habit I am trying to break.

Didn't anybody ever tell you that modelers get lost in the mix? I couldn't hear a thing played ;)

I may have to break my RP1000 out...bought it a couple years ago as an emergency backup and have never even turned it on.

You couldn't have warned me BEFORE I bought it???

Seriously though, give it a spin. My 2 dirty patches are identical except one has phaser and one has chorus. Both use the '68 Plexi and I have a tube screamer to push it.

It's also made of metal. It's very solid and roadworthy. Best bang for the buck right now as far as floorboard modelers go.

Half my gigs I run direct with an RP500. When dialed in how you want it, it's great....I don't use the stock presets. Why can't anybody make good stock presets?

I was actually very impressed with how easy it was to dial-in usable tones quickly.

Sounds great to me :).

Oh did you update the RP to the latest firmware?

I use mone in 4CM through my JCM800. It works great like that with an amp.

It came loaded with Digitechs most current firmware. I didn't load the MustBeBeta one yet. Unlike the 1101 updates, they didn't add any new amp models or cabs. I don't plan on getting too many elaborate patches set up as I just use a bit of Chorus/Verb/Delay and Phase. That may change though.

Are you using the MustBeBeta stuff?

Right on. Any noticeable tone suck? I am going to try it through my Splawn and see how it goes. If it sounds good, I'll probably sell of my pedals.

Yeah, I updated my GSP right away when I got it, and I gotta say I like the ability to use 3rd party IR's. And a few of the amp sims that came along with the firmware quite a bit too, now that I have messed around with it some more.
