So when Helix launched I had the Kemper. I did not care for ANY of the more than "mid-gain" clips I was hearing out of the Helix. Ultimately sold the Kemper, got an AX8, sold it, Got a Katana Head, sold it and then got an Amplifire 3... sold it! As soon as they announced the Helix LT I called my Sweetwater guy, got a KILLER deal and couldn't be happier. Only had it about a week and a half. Spent about 18 minutes total dialing in these sounds and so far there's a LOT more potential than I ever thought.

Obviously there are much better tones to be had out of it but I am REALLY digging it so far.

I've had the AFX2, KPA & Helix......I still own AFX2 & KPA.....the Helix deserves credit for having some great features & some decent tones. To me, the helix cannot touch the AFX or KPA for tones & feel....it still has quite a ways to go to catch up in that respect. This is based on my hands on experience with all 3 units in my home at the same time.

Having said that, Line6 has designed a very user friendly/modern looking & feature rich unit that will sound "good enough" for plenty of folks. It's great to see Line6 trying to play in the higher end modeling game & I hope they keep it up & keep improving the tones & increase the amount of available amp models/cab IRs!

Yeah I know everyone definitely has their preference for sure. I literally miss nothing about the AX8 with this guy. Sometimes miss the Kemper but not enough to dive in again. 60% of the time, I prefer my amps every time! LOL!

I prefer my amps into the Two Notes Studio over all the modelers I have owned. What was the last firmware you had on the Helix? I HATED high gain sounds, as I mentioned. Talked mad crap about the Helix on forums as well. They seem to be getting it right with the 2.2 and above firmware. What I most appreciate is editing on the unit itself. The AX8 was abysmal (as was the Amplifire IMHO) editing on the unit. So far I have not needed to launch the editor on my Mac which is nice. Means even a moron like me can dive right in! LOL!

I'm the same with you on the Two-Notes Studio and amps. For me, it just works.

Doesn't sound bad at all.
Thanks! I know they are doing a lot to make the amp and cab models better and it definitely shows. Some of the earlier firmware's were just brutal for higher gain... and not the brutal that you like! LOL!

Sounds real good on this end, nice

Does there site description list the amp models this thing comes pre-loaded with?

Wow! Cool!

I've never used a modeler, but its something I've thought about in the past and am even starting to consider more and more. I wouldn't sell my tube amps, but I think I might like to give something this or a Kemper/Axe a go.

Enjoy it!

NEVER SELL YOUR TUBE AMPS!!!!

For some reason I thought you had a Kemper?

Yeah man, I loved the Kemper while i had it. Sold it for a myriad of reasons and ultimately don't really miss it. I think that is mostly due to how well the Torpedo Studio gets my amp tones recorded. The AX8 was cool but had it's issues. The Amplifire 3 was the shortest lived. Sounded killer but was not a keeper for me. The Helix LT just sounds killer IMHO. Super simple to get good sounds. Editing on the unit is perfect. No need for the app IMHO.

Now to be clear, I bashed the hell out of the Helix Floor here and other forums on launch and for about a straight year and a half. Like I said on TGP, if you told me a year ago I would EVER give L6 money for a modeler I'd have beat you about the face, chest, neck and back with my Kemper! LOL!

Then over the last few months I heard some really good sounding stuff getting posted. THEN they released the LT for $999 and most every retailer were not putting them on their exclusions list. I got it shipped for a great price and couldn't be happier.

Nope, have never even played a Kemper or any modeler for that matter.

Looks like the Line6 has some great amps in it!

I could see myself trying one of these new fangled contraptions someday in the near future

Well all the kids are using them these days... making their "beep bop" songs and what not...

Does the helix LT have the relays to change channels like the regular helix?
Thanks

Fuck Jer.....maybe it's me, and maybe it's L6 tones talking, but there's been like every tone I've heard from you that I've liked better.

My bad, dude.

I like the Shiva tones

The high gains were a bit scooped for me

That said I had our singers Helix for a weeks up beside my AX8 and
I loved the Matchless Archon Liigator /13 models
The drives were good. Delays great
And the ease of use kills
I think I may just grab an lt

I have the original Helix, but I don't use it for amp modeling, I only use it for effects, amp switching, and IR host...I simply love it for this purpose. My chain is guitar > Helix (pre effects) > amp > Suhr Reactive Load > Helix (Ownhammer IRs) > Helix post effects > stereo Friedman AMS 12s...

What a great time we're living in!

I know it's easy to slag L6, but they certainly stuck their necks out in the early days, and continue to get better. Everyone that was looking for a product aimed at "professionals" after the long gap from Vetta should be pretty happy now. Even their "bedroom rocker" gear is pretty decent, and has some very cool technology that's been "outside the box" from the other guys.
