Except the Einstein channel 1 mod and the midi chip that allows CC, I've never heard about sound related mods. Peter has "a bit" of talent it seems, his amps need nothing more

Try different tubes or learn how to EQ.
If i can pilot this ship, am sure a guitar amp should not be a problem.

Amp has been tubed with different brands of tubes for ultimate tones

Gold lion's o.k.

Ehh not impressed by it at all.... I can see why you have a hard time getting a good tone... But to each his own. Good luck!

Not here to impress anyone brother. Just talk about gear.

Done my impressing, been there, done it, lived it, and still livin it.

By all means post any of your work.

lets keep this thread as to the title.

more along the lines as being less compressed.

From what I understand there is a mod that gives the amp less compression. Havent heard it personally but it might be interesting.... ;)

I just got an email about this yesterday or the day before. There is a "new" mod available for easing the compression on the Diezels. I haven't checked it out, but I believe the source.

PM me if you want more info pstar.

I did the midi chip mod on my Herbert so now I have Instant Access to all Herbert functions via midi foot switch, very cool. The chip is called the Evolution Chip and is available from Wilder Amplification.

Hope this helps...

a simple resistor wired to a channels gain pot will reduce the excessive saturation and improve clarity a bit
if you have enough skills to take the chassis out, you won't have any trouble doing that yourself
you won't even need to touch the boards

I have heard this mod in person with Diezels and other amp brands. HUGE difference. I was speechless I must admit. If you don't like compression this is it. Super open, punchy and responsive on the clean channels and much more articulate and clarity, much more cut through on the overdrive. With the modern amps I heard it was a difference like day and night, not subtle. But that is of course my personal opinion.

Cheers, Richard

PStar, I've played a few Einsteins and owned one. KT88s make a HUGE difference in that amp. You might want to give it a try. Opens it up and makes it come alive. Big difference from the EL34s in that amp, IMO.

Pstar's rocking a Hagen though.

Wonder if it's possible to get a cap/resistor on board to tackle a quad of KT88s...?? That could sound interesting
