I just got my new Herbert diezel amp and channel 3 is making a deep humming sound. it sounds kind of like vibrating bassy sound. Channel 1 and 2 sound like there suppose to i think no humming sound. the amp is basicly new. preamp imputs are not working either unless im not doing somthing correct. PLEASE HELP.

What is your serial number, when did you purchase it? Are you the original owner etc.??? PM me your number and I will help you.

First replace V2 with a non microphonic 12AX7
and give us some report.

serial # is 001/1041 and im not sure what you mean when you say replace V2 with a non microphonic 12AX7...... THANKS.......

And i am the first owner. I got the amp new at guitar center they shipped it to me.

I believe peter just means replace the tube with a new one
in the V2 position it is the second one from the input

Just got it a couple of days ago. THANKS FOR RESPONDING.

yeah the imput jack were you connect your guitar
you might have to pull you amp out of the case to get at the tube

congrats on the new amp you will enjoy it

ya i just tryed that i put some groove tubes i had and it still making like a high pitch sound just coming from channel 3.

hmmm that puzzles me as well but Peter or Duolos will prob
let you know whats going on and help out

Rotate and document the rotation of the pre-amp tubes and see if this changes the problem or creates a new problem. If so, then it is the tube that is causing the problem in that particular slot. In the end, make sure you put the tubes back in their respective slots that you began with.

If nothing changes and the problem persists when you have rotated the pre amp tubes into different slots, we know it is something else and can go from there.

i had some groove tubes out of my other amp. i tryed them and each one i replaced i would turn the amp on and no change. it still has some kind of high pitch sound just on channel 3. the other channel sound great.

Did you buy it from the guitar center in Towson md? I noticed the same problems in their herbert there. I told them to fix it! The one sales guy said they sucked and i played it and realized that there was definitely something wrong with it. They know nothing. And seriously... Why are all these herberts having issues. The one i played in Washington music also was making noises and everything. i couldnt even play on it. I drove an hour to try out guitars and couldnt use the amp i normally play on. and its only the herberts. ...what is the deal? Before buying mine, it had issues to and i had them fix them, and now it works great. But why so many tube problems. No other tube amp ive ever had have i seen this ...

To attempt to answer your question it could be any number of things. Buying a floor model amp means that the amp could have all kinds of things happen that none of us will ever know about. I have seen amps running in a GC with power and no load on them. You name it, it has probably happened at a music store floor model scenario. No tube is 100% perfect or without fault. A lot of the tube quality these days is not what it used to be. This is why we are changing to a tube that will work much better and be able to handle our design.

ya i took the amp back to my local guitat center they said they would get me another one. they said that there where only two in the united states out of all the guitar centers. they also said if those amps didn't check out to be good they could get one straight from the dealer. i really just wanted to know what might have been wrong with the amp mybe a quick fix. THANKS FOR HELP......

Watch GC resell it without having it looked at and we'll have the same question asked again in a month.

Not goining to play arm-chair Herbert amp tech here, but where are you located (no sig)? I'm in San Diego (where the burritos are King and the salsa is Queen!) and the La Mesa GC here has a brand spanking new Herbert in the loud room just waiting for a warm and fuzzy home - 619-668-8400.
