Diezel Herbert vs Rivera Kr7

Herbert is more user friendly. KR7 is a crapshoot. Dial it in with the right gear and it can be great for drop tunings but standard tunings it lacks IMO. Herbert sounds great with little fucking around and standard tunings and detuned are equally great. Both have great cleans but channel 2 Herbert is so variable with the midcut control. Channel 3 is anticlimactic on the Herbert ...good...not great. I recommend them both but would pick Herbert if I had to choose.....

Uh huh, meaning? Comments like that just reek of corksniffery when low/alternate tunings go back to the days of blues and jazz. Let's not forget why the 7-string was originally "invented."

MY vh4 was a 2006/2007 It came with 6l6's, I went to el34's sounded better. Tried ruby, sed wing c, settled on tung sol. The el 34s gave the amp alittle more bite i felt which i liked.

This is the kr7 video i ment to link lol sorry im at work. I liked the gutteral sound of some of the takes with the gt100 and v30's. Is it just me or the sound of channel three on the kr7 is close to the diezel herbert just not as hi fi?
Im gased for both.

Wow, that's a very revealing clip. I wish I saw it before I ordered a pair of K100... It represents exactly how they sound, which I ended up not liking at all...
Talking about amps now. I own an Einstein, which also has the signature Diezel sound, and I can absolutely guarantee you that its sounds are a class above what I heard here from the Rivera. With all the extra options that the Herbert has, I think it's a no brainer.

That first clip of the Herbert you posted is boosted. Keep that in mind. His other clip of his VH4 sounds very similar (just with less gain, but it sounds like he had the gain turned down). So, also keep that in mind. ;)

The other two clips just sound awful. I don't know why you'd want that tone.

My VH4 handles dropped tunings just fine. My Jackson with EMG 85/81 is tuned to Drop D down a step and a half and it sounds like lucifer cuming all over a unicorn's face through my VH4. I'd try and actually find these amps to play before you buy one.
actually, both those clips were boosted, both had the gain on the amp below 12:00. Ch2+ on the Herbert, and Ch3 on the VH4, both boosted with a BB preamp. The Herbert is a bit more modern sounding IMO, where the VH4 really excelled at that real aggressive hard rock sound. They do sound a bit similiar I guess, but I definitely dial my amps similiar for my tastes. I think for what he's looking for, the Herbert might be a better option. I loved the VH4, but it was kind of a tweener for my playing styles. I like a little more raw uncompressed sound for my hard rock sounds, and a little more modern sounding chug for my metal sounds. The VH4 is an awesome sounding amp though, really wish I had the loot to keep both. It was also a mid 2007 model, which I guess had a bit more gain on Ch3 than previous models. The Herbert had 4 Penta KT88SC, and 2 Ruby KT88 for that clip, and the VH4 had 4 Sovtek 6550WD.

that clip had 4 TAD EL34 and 2 Ruby KT88 in the outside sockets. Was also CH2+ boosted with a Keeley modded OD808. The Herbert sounds FANTASTIC blended with other amps IMO. One of my favorites was actually a blend with an old Triple Rec, and a Krankenstein believe it or not. Sounded so aggressive. I've also blended it with a Wizard MC100 that sounded pretty killer, and oddly enough, it sounds really good blended with a CCV-100. The CCV blended kind of odd with it though, it almost sounded like they added in phase with eachother, and made everything much louder. It's one of the few times I've actually had pain in my ears from blending amps.

Really wish I could give you advice on the KR7, but I've never played one. I REALLY would like to at some point though, from clips, I think I would really enjoy that beast too.

The Herbert is the answer. It has the best clean sound from a high gain amp i have ever heard! hands down. The OD channels are legendary too!
