Hey Crew....well, looks like the Diezel GAS is hitting me hard. I live in Milwaukee and would love to find someone in the state who would be willing to let me plug into their rig. I am sitting on the fence for a VH4 or Herbert. I do not care if you are hours away or even right next door I will drive and make a weekend outta' it. Thanks in advance for helping a brutha out  !

VH4 and don't look back.

Seems like that is the popular vote. As well as the way I am leaning. With that said....If I go the used route is there one particular year over the other? Things such as upgrades throughout the years. That kind of thing.

As I understand it, there were small changes in 2007 and 2011. I've played 08, 11, and 13. 2007-10 is slightly darker and more compressed than 2011+. Pre-2007 is supposed to have less gain on Ch 3, although the 2007+ have way more than most people need anyway. These are pretty small differences though, and probably nothing anyone would notice without A/Bing at the same time. In other words, if you weren't happy with one of the older ones, there's nothing that's changed so drastically to make you love a newer one.

I'm in Madison and have got a VH4 if you want to check it out. Only issue is that we probably can't turn it up much past 2 if it is just at home.

Hello I saw that you live in Wisconsin and would like to try out a diesel before you buy . I have an Einstien and a Herbert with a couple orange cabs and you are welcome to play through them if you would like. These are some seriously expensive amps so playing them first is very smart! Let me know.

How you liking the Einstein?? Debated/ing getting one many times. Cheers

Actually I feel of course very fortunate to own such great gear ( I'm Not rich) so I am very thankful. But I was contemplating selling one of them and honestly I think I like the Einstien over the herbert only because it truly has a very organic naturalness to it whereas the herbert has a modern compressed feel to it. Not only is the einstien more affordable to an everyday working guy but it also does metal VERY well , I have read other forums that state it doesn't have a true metal sound and I would disagree. The Herbert is a very "in yo face" metal amp no doubt, They both have VERY pristine cleans that I would go as far to say that would fit in a country or blues style very well. feel free to ask anything you need to and I will answer your questions as best I can.

1st.. off, killer band bro.. Gotta come check you out sometime.. My cover band plays every weekend around the Wis Dells area. I sing and play lead..everything from Van Halen to Sevendust..and all in between. Keep rockin'

2ndly, I had a Herbie years back... and tho my ears, ability and knowledge has grown since then, I remember not liking it too much. Great for single note riffing, chugga type stuff, nice clean... but very, very tight and compressed and hifi.. chords lost string separation and definition, lack of harmonics. The Einstein interests me cuz it seems the most organic and open...but still has that diezel thump and lower end. Currently have a Gower Killer Kali++ (amazing amp!!! )... recently picked up a 100watt 5153 as a backup to my Kali...boost ch 2 with a bad monkey (all level, no added gain)... actually a fun amp to play and ALOT of amp for the money. Suffices my home practice needs and main rig backup. Cheers bro

I live in Sauk. Small world. And thank you for the kind words. Your welcome to check out my amps if you want. Always nice to meet new people in the local music community.

I live in Oconomowoc, not far from Milwaukee at all! Once I throw some new pre's in Herbie, you can definitely drop over and give it a whirl. Sadly I'm kinda new here so I can't pm, but if it's cool with you I'll call you at that number you gave me and we'll try and set something up. My name's Eric by the way

You'll love it. Don't be afraid to turn the EQ knobs up to 10. My favorite settings for Channel 3 are:

Gain: 1:30 - 2:00
Volume: Past 12:00
Treble: 1:00
Mid: Maxed out
Bass: 11:00
Deep: 10:30
Presence: 1:00
Master: 11:00

I'm gonna miss it, take good care of it for me!
