I'm thinking of selling a bunch of stuff and going for a hi level amp. I currently have a Rhodes modded Rectifier that is awesome, but, well you know...always something new to try

Top of my list is the Rhodes Gemini. Love the clips, love what he did with my Dual Rec, and a big + Rhodes seems to be run by a good guy with superior customer service.

But then I recently jammed a Herbert. The Herb I only mildly liked it at first, but once I got some tracks down in the studio I was floored at how powerful and clear it was. I throw Lickliter in there because that amp line always intrigued me, but not a lot of clips to go by...How much are new Herbies, over 4k? I have no idea how to go about getting a new one, but there's a few used that seem to be in good shape. I guess I could consider other Diezels, but I have no idea where to begin beyond that comparison video I found.

I really like the Baron tones, but I'm thinking that may be too close to what I already have in the Rectifier.

Any respectful comparison/thoughts to any of this appreciated as I zone in on my choice.
Purpose will mostly be for at home loud jamming/studio tracking, but may bring it out if I ever get a great gig. :scared:
I really dig the tones on the new Anthrax disc if that helps, and I tune anywhere from standard E to deep dropE

Why do you need a new Diezel? What's wrong with used? I would never pay 4k for an amp. You can get a used Herbert or VH4 for under 3k on eBay, in the classifieds, on Craigslist...

SteveK has a Herbert for $2600 in the classfieds.

Steve K is selling his herbert for mid $2000's I believe. good dude, seller, etc. Takes care of his stuff...and he has ALOT of stuff :D

Yes, that definitely caught my eye

I love the sound of my Rhecto & Herbert profiles when I run them together from a di track. Grabbing the actual Herebrt amp would be an epic pairing for my Madison Square Garage

Although I am a Marshall guy…if there was only one amp I could own for a plethra of tonal options it would be the Colossus. It just covers so much ground. It is a chameleon of amps, you give it 75 x V30 and it does metal, if you give it H30s it will Lay it Down, and the clean channel can get a great vintage tone. It's an over built tank of an amp as well.

This. Most broad amp I've heard/played.

Get you one of these. The Rhodes Artemis will blow you away. As someone else said, if you can't find your modern tone in a Rhodes, take up another hobby. Mine has the Crunch/Lead1/Lead2 channels. With the mode/voice/fat/bright switches on each channel and the switchable loop and second master, we figured there was 164 available combinations of settings. Got it last week and gigged with it 3 days later. It pretty much makes everything else obsolete.

That's what I'm getting, SO EXCITED

I would go with the Rhodes ,especially since you love the tones he did in your mod.
Since you like that one sound His amps are 10 times more versatile.
If you can live with shared eq and dont want to get the Artemis rack .go for the Gemini

Steve I am shocked to see the Diezel go .lol

I played a Colossus thought it was incredible I am a Soldano guy and the Rhodes was great for getting in that ballpark along with the 245 other tones in there

I have the Gemini. It's simply unreal !
Also own a Herbert. It's been number one for like 8 years, that said I've owned/ borrowed/played lots of high$$$ amps. The Gemini & Herbert are best two amps on the planet.

I do like a few others as well I own several diff amps.

I immediately zoomed in on 3 tones. The crunch channel is great for all the thrashy stuff and lower gain. I have channel two set up much like a IIC+ for a big, fat, scooped rhythm and the channel 3 set up to kill small animals and peel paint. Easy to find what suits you here. Setting up switching with the Ground Control was super easy. Will get an M/20 when Kyle gets them done.

Steve

I bought myself a used a Diezel D-Moll for a bit over $2500 and it was the best purchase I ever made in my musical career (spelled hobby), that and a 4x12 Diezel Cab for another $700.
The only down side is I cannot figure out what to do with my G.A.S. (Gear acquisition syndrome), thank god for my new Analog Pedal addiction! TWA Little Dipper in bound next... Need help...
