tell us more, specifically tone & feel

The tone is more open and tighter. Imagine the best Mesa Mark IIC+ Rhythm tone you've ever heard.
If you keep the same settings (you never would I'd imagine) the bass drops and the presence increases. BUT, you can dial in the exact same tone you had stock (frequency wise) with much less compression. The mod is exactly how it's described by the modder. Super D Duper cool! So glad I did the mod. The VH4 was already my favorite amp ever. Now it has a superwide range. Could not be happier.

Did you ask Peter about the mod beforehand?
Curious to know what he had to say about it

Yes. He was very helpful. He wasn't real excited about this mod existing but the little devil on my shoulder said do it!

I'm glad I did.

Cool
I personnally wouldn't have done it and thought it could turn bad when you first asked about it in your post last year
Glad you like it
If I remember correctly, you could still use the amp in "stock" mode, right? Does the original sound seem affected at all or the mod is really bypassable?

Yes the mod does what the modder says it will do. There is a pot installed (one of those skull knobs for effect!) and when off the amp sounds totally stock. See my first clip. When you start to turn the knob the mod slowly engages to all points in between. You can dial it in. I only had it at around 9 o'clock in that clip. Sounds and feels excellent to me...

Sounds A LOT better to my ears too. I sold my VH4 a couple of weeks ago, but If I still had it and was planning on keeping it, I'd have done the mod too.

Can you take some pics of the amp with the new knob? (not the guts, just the front) and if you got time to make a video then even better.

cheers

My VH4 is out there right now getting the same mod done to it. Cannot wait. Amp was already awesome...so to improve it would be lethal!!

Great clips BTW!! very cool!!!

I'll give those a listen (can't right now)
If this mod really is awesome, Peter might want to consider it as a stock option

Sweet. Jens had the mod done the same day my amp arrived!
BTW the gain in that clip was at noon.

I actually agree. The only complaint I ever heard about the Vh4 was the dark tone and compression. Well, one knob and....

I love the Vh4 stock. You just get more tones this way. It's like an extra amp for not much dough.

If Peter would do the mod, like SLO factory mods, I'd be pretty interested
Oh wait, he's in Germany

Wow, sounds great! I'm a big fan of Peter's work and love the VH4 but I honestly think that is a great addition.

Is this difference in the recording really only the mod? Nothing else?
