Solo'ed Guitar Tracks are double tracked and raw. Guitars and Bass are raw in the Mix, but with 2 Mastering Plug-Ins on the Sum.
I made my choice.

you need to run them at the same time and there you have your stereo rig!:p
The modded and boosted JCM800 is too gainy for me in this clip, but the VH4 seems too dry and sterile after that.
Lenz for me, if you run it with less Gain

I also have a clip with a bit less gain of the Lenz. :)

So what was your choice between the two? Did you have to work hard to get pinched harmonics with this VH4 over your other one that you didn't like?

For your type of metal the VH-4 seems to work well for being brutal.....The Lenz has a little bit more give to it like a Recto.

My Choice is the Lenz.
The Diezel does not take boosts at all in Channel 3 and Channel 4. That used to be different in the earlier version. They took boosts pretty good.
The Circuit is totally maxed out now, with no Headroom. The Signal clips and hits the ceiling hard, if you know what i mean. The gain on 1 o'clock is the total max with active Pickups. After that, there are no harmonics left whatsoever. The threshold on the 4. Channel is around 8 o'clock.
It was a nice experience for like 2 days. And it sits in the mix nicely. And it's a very nicely build Amp with an extremely low noise floor with an explosive attack. It stops very fast. Almost like with a Noise Gate.
But the Lenz suits my Style much better.
And i really like the new Ibanez 808 HW V2 that i bought to try out with the Diezel. The 808 and the Pentatone Gate are keepers.
Gotta make a thread about the Ibanez 808 HW V2, because it seems there is none on rig-talk yet. :)

You seem to play with a boatload of gain from what I can gather from your clips and I don't mean that as an insult, but I can see why you'd start clipping or maxing out on headroom when boosted.

The VH4 I just grabbed takes boosts really, really well on Ch2, Ch3, even Ch4. I've tried 6-7 different ODs and they all work great, but I play with gain set pretty low on the amp then boost. A lot of guys complain the SLO is too muddy and flubby no matter what boost they use, the SLOs I had were tight AF with a boost, but again, I played with gain at like 9-11 o'clock and boosted.

On the VH4 I run Amp gain on Ch2 around noon to 1 o'clock and boost to taste, CH3 amp gain around 10-11 o'clock boost to taste, and Ch4 I haven't played much but amp gain 9-10 o'clock and boost to taste. Extreme amounts of headroom and not even remotely close to clipping. Its in the same ballpark as all the Wizards I've had in that regard and the biggest most room filling 3D sound of just about any amp I've had, on par with the Megalith Beta.

I agree with you on the start stop playing, it is like there's a gate. Super clear/articulate amp too.

i am by no means an expert on boosting, but this sounds very plausible.
Euge has a good vid on it:

love the faces, sounds and gesticulations he makes when describing the compression and stuff:D
