Hi,

I have the VH4 and i'm going to be finally using it live as I have a flight case. I was looking at the G major, which seems a popular choice, for a variety of programmable effects but I was unsure if there are any better alternatives??? What do you think?

I am new to programmable effects and fx loops to be honest, like to keep it relatively simple, so please be gentle!

P.S. the majority of effects I will be using are chorus, delay, flange (the basics really).

Any help would be great.

Cheers!

Stu

The G-System would be a nice choice.
The most common effects, top quality, and an integrated Midi-Board to change your 4 channels with effects or without.

Take a look at it, and I'm sure it's worth the money.

An Einstein user here but i've recently started using a G-system. Basically a g-major/force with it's own pedal system. I use it split with the brains in a rack.

The g system could control your amp both via midi or relays, lots of choices for putting effects/pedals before or after the preamp

It's hard to imagine a better partner for a diezel amp

yeah I use the Gmajor and GC to switch channels and effects. Overall great device, and since it is stereo, it is match made in heaven for the VH4S

eventide eclipse. if you're going to spend the money on a g-force, i highly recommend the eventide eclipse instead. the setting are more usable, more even in levels, way better. also, i hear the axe-fx is a great unit, no experience myself, but take the time to demo these units. the g-force is not all that it's cracked up to be. it's easy and simple and instant-gratification, but in the end, it's just not 100% right.

effects processors are more often better when used through the send2, off to a power amp (vht preferably), then to the cab(s). i helped a friend with a stereo setup like that and it was awesome.

I had a G-force & Gmajor & ended up selling them. The effects were great & all but for some reason no matter what I did something always seemed a little too "digital"? My favorite rack piece is still the Rocktron Intellifex Online I've had for years. It sounds killer in my Diezels and is the most transparent unit I've ever used. They're really not that expensive either.

Just my .02

peace,

I have a cheap ART FX unit from the late 80's for the time being, all I really use it for is the reverb and delays. --I plan to go all analog for delay and modulation FX, as I think that they sound better than much of the current 24 bit gear, except for perhaps some long reverbs, and Pitch effects. --Probably get another MPX 500, as they do these effects decently enough.
