Haven't tried it with Herbert yet.
The difference between MM & say Ceramic Nailbomb is that MM's cut is pronounced at lower frequency (the reason for EMG81 reference) than nailbomb, which gives you overall darker/rounder sound in the mix. It doesn't cut any more or less.
It's not gonna make the Herbert sounds like a VH4. And VH4 doesn't cut any more in the mix than the Herbert in my experience, more so live. But then I play with Herbert's gain around 8-9:00, so what do I know?
I think it's possible to get "that kind of sound" out of Herbert or from almost any other amp for that matter. It's not gonna sound the same, but it will be that kind of sound. Herbert will probably give you more high & low frequencies.
