Diezel VHX review

Interested again in this amp, but confused by the contradictory marketing/descriptions.

From Sweetwater:

“You can plug the VHX into your favorite 4x12" cab(s) — it’s a hand-to-God 100-watt tube amp. That said, in many modern studio and stage applications you don’t need a speaker cabinet. That’s why Diezel armed the VHX with an IR-enabled DI and load box.”

“Cab-less Mode engages a built-in load box for cab-free performance”

From Diezel’s own product page:

“Cabless Mode engages an internal load for use without an attached cab”

But there is no internal load box. The power amp just gets bypassed.

I think what is meant here is that you can safely run the VHX without having a load plugged into one of the speaker jacks on the back. With most amps, this would damage the transformers.

Understood. That is not a “built-in load box” nor an “internal load”. Recording a preamp is not the same as pushing a power section and loading it down. Maybe the difference is moot for a preamp-based distortion with a clean power section like a Diezel, but I have a specific use in mind where I prefer using an internal load box. Not a deal breaker but would appreciate getting a straight answer from the manufacturer. I can’t seem to find one anywhere. I can’t even access the VHX manual online.
