hello everyone i am new here. i found this site on the diezel home page. my question is that i need some help on deciding on a new high gain amp. i need good cleans and high gain brutality at its finest. i have been checking out engl powerballs and diezel herberts and vh4. last year i bought a rivera ktre and it just does not seem to have the balls i need. maybe its me. who knows. any suggestions on what to check out will be helpful and appreciated.

Diezels are great amps, I had the Einstein for quite a while. Now I've moved over to a new company called DAR and couldn't be happier, great quality amps with great tones.

Diezel Herbert. The be all, end all amp, without question.

What cabinet are you using with the KTre?
Guitar and pickups?

You might try an uberkab?

The KR7 w/ uberkab will shake your nuts with lowtuned guitars.

Brootz for me is Engl Se , Savage &

VH4

have not tried the Herbert, but from what I hear that's the one.

Unless your rich ...Fortin Meathead!

The Herbert is a beast. Great clean sounds as well as state of the art high gain sounds, creamy to brutal. I would recommend to play with Diezel 4x12" frontloaded with v30 or G12K-100. A lot of useres are playing Herbert with Rectifier cabs - of course it's always a matter of taste but I can't really understand ;)

The Diezel Herbert is a killer amp but if you can go into the Diezel price range then there are a ton of choices to consider. It really depends on the voicing you like. Diezels have a certain voicing that some love and some just don't get along with.

Mesa, Bogner, Soldano, Orange, Peavey, Marshall, Splawn, Fryette, ENGL, etc.. all have great high gainers also.

I'm really not clear on your definition of "balls", but my KR-7 has a HUGE low end and is the most aggressive amp I've ever heard.
The VH4 is a killer amp, but it's very refined, tight, and smooth. It's also SUPER compressed. I can't comment on the Herb, because I've never owned one.

What, specifically, is the KTre lacking?

You've got something wrong some where in your setup. I own a K-Tre and it's very aggressive with bottom end that moves more air than my Uberschall.

AND WHAT ABOUT THE VH4 PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!! THE ORIGINAL END ALL, BE ALL OF DIEZEL'S SIGNATURE SOUND & TONE!!!!!!!

V. :D

Not even close. Your kidding right?

Just poking fun. You know how certain terms get attached to gear, Soldano and sizzle. VHT and dry. Bogner and chewy or dark. V30's and mid spike.

There is a certain Hi-fi character about the Herbert that i did notice but didn't bother me. Now Engl's really have a certain something i don't like. Wether or not the Herbert cuts through a mix is another arguement. Although when i have heard Diezels with a live band, they didn't sound great. But it was only local bands so probably was user error. Seems like the mid cut gets abused by some guys.

I played a VH4 once, liked it, but no way for that price.
