What is the difference between herbert mk1 and mk2? can anyone answer this question in full? Thank you

Main difference: Transformers. They have different transformers in them. The MKII has more headroom on the clean side and a tiny bit less compression. Easy way to tell them apart, besides looking at the front of the amp where is would say MKII, is by looking at the transformers. In the MKI the transformers are sitting in the amp sideways. In the MKII they are standing straight up. Thats pretty much all you need to know about the differences. Nuances in the tone and feel. MKII is the "improved" version.

...thanks to the german government.

I'm not sure but the last external bias points were build till mid 2008 or 2009. maybe peter give us some information.

The differences are:

  • Different transformers with different mounting
  • No external bias points
  • Clean channel with even more headroom
  • Possibility to connect the FS7HE footswitch
  • Depending on which MK1 you compare it to it might have some small differences in sound, e.g. more highs or more mids
  • Depending on which MK1 you compare it to it might have even less idle hiss
  • Depending on which MK1 you compare it to it might have different preamp and/or poweramp tubes

Hope that helped a bit.
