Hey there ,

I just got interested in the Diezel amps(I know where have i been)
and I am going to check a few out next weekend

Anyway for what i understand about the amps in the line

The VH4 is the tightest and somewhat dry classic voice with modern edge as well.
Herbert is the most aggressive, saturated amp in the line more modern voiced than VH4.
The Einstein has a looser feel to the others. more saturation and compression than the VH4 but less than Herbert and a more classic voice

Is this at all accurate????

It is all a large topic of debate. I can say with the BROADEST of thought that you are in the right area of thought. Try them out and see for yourself. It's the only way. You will get so many different opinions about what's what here in the diezel thread. Peter might have a comment about it though.

Just be careful.... After you try them you will want them all... That is something everyone will agree on.

Ya, you're more or less painting the right picture... Don't forget the Hagen - it's a gnarlier version of the VH4 with a splendid clean channel.

From Clean to Mean:
Schmidt
Einstein
> Hagen
VH4
> Hagen
Herbert

Hagen kinda rests on either end of the VH4, it's really its own beast. Herbert is notorious in Japan and many other parts of the world as a high-gain destroyer, not to mention 180W power section (6 tubes). Common belief is that the Herbert doesn't cut as well as the VH4, the VH4 is more apt to pedals/FX/stomp, etc. The VH4 is most certainly found in more studios around the globe than most any other Diezel, but this is due to its versatility. The Hagen hasn't been out long enough to form a true consensus, I own both - the VH4 and Hagen - and I love my Hagen more, but that's a personal preference - not a fact to all. Einstein's got a great looseness and voicing, but superb crunch and clean. Schmidt is a clean machine, but does great crunch and blues.

Check out Ola Englunds website for some awesome demos of varied Diezels.

Just do everyone a favour here... Don't ask "which is better, the VH4 or the Herbert?". Please...don't go there

I won't go there .I really liked the Clips done buy the British Dealer Josh guy .The Herbert ,VH4 Einstein all sound killer so I am guessing a lot of the difference might be in how they feel and respond.
I can certainly hear a common character be it Einny Ch 1 Mega .Vh4 Ch3 ,and Herb Ch2 ,there is a familiarity yet difference at the same time

And lemme tell you, the Hagen's ch.3 AND ch.4 are off-the-fkn-hook. Not to mention the cleanest pristine clean I've had in a Diezel, and the ch.2 does kerrang like none other. It's kinda like a greasy, gnarling, gnawing VH4 but still holds that surgical djent vibe when effectively palm muted on the chugga channel.

I love the Hagen. I really do

Enjoy test driving them... They're amazing works of sonic art!!

Just one cent to add why you should really try them yourself: the vh4 and Herbert feel VERY different when you play them. It's as if the herb plays itself when you tried the vh4 first... for some, this characteristic of the vh4 is too much, TOO controlled and they don't like it for that. So, yea, reallyreally try them yourself - that's the only way you can find out which one feels best, it's not only about the tone alone.

So, just listen to your tummy, when it gets all fuzzy and warm and you can't stop grinning... then it's time to shell out your hard-earned cash! :D

Ya I figured the feel would be very different between them .For me I am kinda in the middle .Don't want an amp that is super stiff. I like a bit of give on the attack.
At same time don't want super compressed .
From clips alone I really dig the Einstein Mega Crunch.
but as you said the feel is a lot of were the difference lies as well

Hagen to me is Herbert n vh4 combined. Had all still have Hagen. It's got this grind the others don't. Grind is that correct?

Ya, I'll go with that... Snarls like a fkn chainsaw really. It's got a greasiness to it - sorta that playability that was mentioned above regarding the Herbert's ease-of-use, but it can go damn right percussive like the V when palmed effectively. It's a great amp - but that's not to say the Einy, the VH4, and the Herbert aren't.

Herbert was my go to for 7 years hundreds of shows n no problems cutting. If I wanted I could have crushed the rest of the band and thē fkn bass player too !!!!

+1 on that. People who complain about it not cutting through do not know how to EQ with a band. Big difference between playing by yourself and with a band.

Somebody has to stir the pot every once I a while. The regular shit stirrers seem to be on their meds.

The only Diezel debate for me is Hagen or D-Moll.

This is what the Diezel Hagen sounds n feels like.

It sounds like 80's BOC?

Go Go Godzilla... I hear ya man. Diezel has some cool high gainers. Nobody carries them here, but between 3 guitar centers within driving distance, I have played a few.

I was thinking more like this -
images
- strangely synthetic-

Cool Godzilla picture though.

I had the VH4S and the Herbert....
loved them both for different reasons.
Would lean toward the VH4 again though.
Still want to get a Hagen.

Funny, I look at Heritage Softails avatar....and just a few posts we speak of "playing by yourself". Coincidence? I think not... Definitely some pocket-hockey material with that Betty, given the need to kneed.
