Differences between Tremoverb and Roadster?

I don't have much experience with Mesa's. I own a Soldano SLO, a couple of Two Rock Onyx's and a Vox. I have owned many amps over the past 10 years everything from Bogner to Matchless but have never really tried out many Mesa's. I just bought a Tremoverb off of ebay but it had many problems the seller didn't list so I am sending it back. I started doing some research on Mesa's and it seems like the Roadster would be a cool amp to own. Seems like it has all the channels that Mesa has had over the years. I wouldn't really use the tremolo on the Tremoverb so besides the tremolo how different sounding are the Roadsters from the Tremoverbs? I know the Tremoverbs would be cheaper to find used but I like the idea that the Roadsters are new. Seems like all the used the Tremoverbs are over 10 years old. I am not sure when Mesa discontinued the Tremoverb. For someone who has tried both how do they compare? I really liked all the channels on the Tremoverb. I thought the clean was great and really liked the Vintage High Gain, Blues and Modern High Gain. I mostly play southern rock similar to Allman Brothers and really dig the Government Mule. Any info would be helpful.

Thanks,

Chuck

The Roadster is certainly more flexible.....but the better amp all depends on what you want to get yourself into. For me.....it takes a bit too much effort to tweak Mark series amps, the Road King & Roadster. (I know I'm retarded and smarter Mesa users will say how easy it is for them)

The T-Verb is REALLY easy to dial in great sounds quickly and not have to re-assess too much whenever you change guitars or rooms. 1 biggie against the T-Verb is how you can really only utilize 2 of it's 4 modes/channels via footswitch, since it's really a 2 channel amp, with each having 2 modes.

That said, the Tremoverb is my #1 amp because it does everything I want it to do without making me think too much.

If you've got the $$ for a new Roadster......check out a Mk V! (the info on it looks impressive) If you don't.....the Tremoverb will be a great friend.

I think the Roadster is quite a bit better for high-gain, way more flexible. But, you will spend quite a bit more to get it. It seems to have more dimension in the tone.

I wouldn't say that the Roadster is better at high-gain than the Tverb, but it's definitely more flexible.

I don't think any other Mesa is as cool as the T-verb. That said the tremolo is meh, and the verb pans are something you'll go through. Then again I left my 3rd pan in the combo when I put mine into the head shell.
As for your ebay trouble, that amp is discontiued what a decade ago? Hard to find something that's that old and clean.
