Anyone own one of these?
I have the RP500 and made some useful rock patches right off the bat within 10 minutes.
Pretty good unit, and feels very sturdy (switches and output jacks)

Any reason I should be looking at the more expensive RP models over the RP500?
Do the amp tones sound any better with the more expensive units?

I use an iPB-10 (the one that holds an iPad), and it's great.

I used to use a big-ass pedalboard with tons of boutique delays, phaser, flanger, etc. But for playing live, it just doesn't make sense. I love how you can set up each patch to use different pedals. Plus, the editing is a breeze with the iPad interface. I'll never go back to the little red dots in the matrix of an RP series again.

Having said that, the iPB-10 wouldn't be very cost conscious if you didn't already own an iPad. But since I did, it's awesome.

Here it is on stage during soundcheck before we rocked 10,000 fans last summer.

Nice! I use modelers on large shows to....nobody knows out front, we really worry too much about gear.
I've played many a show over the last six years with the Tonelab LE, but time to move on to something newer and more trustworthy. At times the switches didn't work momentarily and a few power supplies have bit the dust.

Here's a pic I took with my cell phone just before I walked out on stage in New Orleans last weekend...just a strat with a Tonelab LE in a monitor wedge.

I remember you posting a nice clip with that, was maybe last year. Cool unit.

I use the RP 1000 for gigging. I ditched a big pedalboard for it. I use the 4cm into my jcm 800. It works great. The effects models are good enough and if I need a clean sound I use the amp models (I have a loop installed in my amp). Plus I can run direct if needed. If I didn't need the 4cm I would have bought an Rp500.

I prefer the smaller footprint of the RP500 and I only use 5 presets all night, but being able to use the 4 cable method with the RP1000 makes it pretty flexible.
I'm thinking I'll stick with the smaller RP500. All of my amps have enough gain on there own so I never boost them and the Phase 90 sim in the RP's doesn't cut it for me. I like the delays, revs and comps a lot. The buttons and jacks feels much more solid over the ones on my old Tonelab LE. This thing feels very solid overall, could leave a good dent in someone's head, which is very encouraging.

I have to use the 4CM because I use delay and wah. Since I get the dirt from my amp, that means the wah needs to go in the front end, and the delay in the loop. At least for what I'm doing.

I picked up another RP1000. I'm using it with the 4CM method with my Mark III. At first I was getting terrible hum and noise and was pulling my hair out, but I figured it out. I put a ground lift on my pedalboard power cable which is a Furman SPB-8, THAT was the source of the noise! I couldn't believe it. I only used the board to power up my ISP Decimator. I use the ISP at the cable that goes into my amp input. Before I put the ground lift on the Furman the noise was soo bad that the Decimator didn't help. Now, FINALLY FINALLY I have a 4CM setup that FUCKING WORKS.  I tried an HD500, Axe-FX, TC G System, and this Digitech RP1000 is the only thing that works RIGHT with the 4CM.

I'm not hearing any tone suck at all and the effects sound pretty good, not the best but good enough. The only thing I don't like is I can't switch the delay pre or post, but being that it's post is ok.

For the price it's not bad. They go for around $225-$250 used. And the best thing is I can use it for a clean channel on my Mark III since it can bypass the Mesa preamp and I can use a model for clean sounds.

The other models are extra as the dirt one's don't sound that great through my amp.

Yeah, the phase 90....it's ok, nothing special. But there's pedal loop where you can run a few stomps as well. I was thinking of going Strymon but after a Timeline and Mobius, that's 900 bucks. yikes.

Congrats on figuring out the gremlin. It's awesome when you get something like that figured out.
