Got myself a really nice Premium Ibby RG927QM. Now, while i like the stock pick-ups i want more Flava! Is there a "real" version of these these pickups? Hopefully you know what i mean by that. Are they like the cheap version if some better Dimarzio's etc...

Alternatively, thinking about going BK Warpig or EMG 81-7X. I'm tuned to drop G flat on it so yea... Maybe i should buy a bass? Or is that filthy language 'round here? ;)

Ramble on...

I'm not sure what those pickups are like. I've tried a few. My favorites are the Dimarzio New 7 pickups that came in the Ibanez RG7X2X guitars. Sound like a 7 version of the Super Distortion, which I really like. Plus they are really cheap if you can find them, because everyone seems to assume that because they came as stock, they must be bad. Not sure if they'll stay clear all the way down to G flat, though.

I also like the Bare Knuckle Holy Diver 7. Not as hot at the New 7. A bit brighter and cleans up better with the volume knob. This probably would hold together tuned down really low.

What else, played the Tone Zone 7 for a long time. Nice rock pickup, but I don't think it'll do monster metal that well. Probably a bad choice for tuning to G flat. Played a few Tom Anderson pickups (H2 and H2+ 7 string pickups). Again, nice rock pickups that split to single coils really, really well. These seem tight and somewhat bright, so they might also hang together with G flat, but probably not what you're looking for.

TLDR, of what I've played, I'd go with a Bare Knuckle Pickups. I like the Holy Diver, but Tim at Bare Knuckles can make a recommendation based on your rig and what you're looking for.

My 7-string has an X2N7 in the bridge and a Blaze in the neck. Best 7-string combination I've heard (IMHO), and I don't play a ton of 7S. I wish they made the Blaze series for 6-string. I've heard it's supposed to be comparable to the Steve's Special, but I don't hear it.

Some folks have put the Blaze neck in the bridge area. It would depend on how high gain your amp is.
I don't mind the Blaze pickups. I put them in the same guitar you have now before I sold it and it sounded great!

That being said, some folks like the Crunchlab 7 and Liquifire 7

I have that guitar in black. I use the CL/LF set and like them a lot. The electronics are not great. I'm going to change out the pots and switch. I think the Ibanez switch adds noise. The Mega Switch P model is quieter.
