Dio Hammersmith 1993 DVD/Tracy G

I watched the Dio Hammersmith 1993 DVD last night. Maybe it is me, but Tracy G's performance was bad and his sound was atrocious !! I saw this tour and I really could not get into the show though. I thought to myself, maybe I have progressed since then and had an open mind, so I thought I would enjoy the DVD. Nope, he still sounded atrocious and the sad thing since I am sure Ronnie had a pick of pretty much whoever he wanted except for Vivian and Tony. What the hell was Ronnie thinking? Oh I really like the Strange Highways CD.

You still might like the DVD since I really think Tracy G is a terrible fit for Dio live as far as covering the old DIO/Sabbath tunes. His guitar solo blows!!

The whole middle period of Dio lost me. Sacred heart up to Aldrich joining, i just didnt get. Robertson did nuthing for me either.

I was into Dio's solo stuff from Holy Diver to Sacred Heart. Not much so after that, but I do like most of Lock Up The Wolves.

I heard about a new Dio DVD coming out and was all excited...until i realized it was the Tracy G era...I think even I can play better than that guy...

I too have wondered about Ronnies choice of Tracy G--maybe Wendy was Gs manager?

CLEARLY its me, but I dont see what is bad about that.

If you want to say its not Iommi, fine, but to say it sucks seems to miss the point of the fact that its his take on things and art is art.

What I'm trying to say is, if you could do better....

I don't think his style suited Dio well...doesn't make him a bad guitar player, that album he did with Dio (Strange Highways?) is aggressive as anything....my wife always says to me "Where's the melody..." when I play songs from it though..it's just an angry album I guess

Strange Highways is damn good CD. I am refering to his playing live.

Well I hate to say it, I probably could do better and I am not that good so that does not say much!!
