So, my SLO has this oxidation or something making the black grill look faded. Anyone know a fix for this? I tried denatured alcohol, but it didn't seem to do anything.

I'm hoping to restore it to dark black (without painting it).

Remove the grill, spray & wipe down with Armor All, should do it.

If not may have to repaint.

Works wonders on tolex too.

Do not put Armor All on any part of an amplifier.....good grief!

The original black is gone from that grill. I would just call Soldano and buy new grills. Not sure you can paint them to appear original.

Good god no oils, just wire brush and sand it and repaint it with semi gloss black paint....will look like new..or call Soldano and get a new one

Yes "oil"

WD-40

I painted the grills on my old 98 HR100+ amp with rustoleum flat black paint , looks OEM stock and takes seconds to do.
Or you can buy new grills for a nice inflated price from Soldano.

AA is silicone based not oil.
Next someone is going to say it's a semiconductor.

I'll probably just keep it the way it is. . .it doesn't really bother me. I just wanted to have an option to correct it, if I ever decide to sell the amp. I didn't want a potential buyer to try to cut the price down because of it.

Thanks guys!

People don't buy SLO's because of the way they look.

But the value of them is based on it.

Try eucalyptus oil - it's a miracle product that does everything. Just wipe it on & then wipe it off

I would just paint it , they can look at it all day long and couldn't tell it's been painted unless i told someone.
A quick coat of flat black on both sides of the grill and it looks like brand new .
People get more anal about the tolex condition than anything else , and if it's been modded or not.

If you're going to paint it, don't forget to sand it to remove oxidation and dirt, then clean it

Clean surface , wipe with acetone , let dry , and paint with even light strokes so you don't run the paint .
Quick and easy , that's how I did mine.
Came out perfect and others thought I bought new grills .

Take the grills to a powder coater, they'll do all the prep on it and it will hold up much better than spray paint. ..I think the end result will look much nicer than spray paint as well.
