Hey guys,
I have a Dual terror and a yamaha sg600.
I like some stoner, post-rock,post-metal etc...
But i cant play with the distortion and effects.

So what distortion pedal would you buy if you wanted to play things like:
Zakk Wylde, Corrosion of conformity, TOOL, Alice in Chains, Mastodon, Baroness ?
Know any distortion similar to dual terror? (The new rat is a bit fizzy or it's from the demos? The whiteface is too expensive :S I also liked the MXR 78 Custom Badass Distortion... )

You need to save up for a head and cab, a pedal should be last on your list.

What i would like is to play with the dual terror and the effects.
But the fx loop mod, doesnt work in the dual terror (because the distortion also cames from the phase inverter and the fx loop is between the the pre amp and the phase inverter).
So if you find me an amp, cheaper than the dual terror with this warm clean sound, i'll change amp, but i'll have to use distortion pedals anyway.
If you find me a bit more expensive amp, with this warm clean sound, and this lovely distortion but with fx loop, i'll also change my amp...

I have a head and cab.
Orange dual terror
orange open back 2x12

I like it a lot, but the only problem is with the effects.
I also said that if you find me an amp with a clean as good, and a distortion as good (of this kind), and with fx loop i would change my amp.
But even in the expensive range of amps i dont find any warm clean, and this aggressive distortion...

The Dual Terror should be able to get close to Mastodon/Baroness sounds. Have you attempted using some kind of tubescreamer boost? Typically, distortion pedals aren't going to do too great, and the ones that are worth it cost a good amount of coin.

Check out the Radial Hot British... about 200 bucks. That, and a tubescreamer/OD808 or something for tighter metal sounds ala Zakk, the Hot British alone should get you some satisfactory sounds for Tool, CoC, etc.

I love the dual terror sound.
The problem is that it doesnt have FX loop.
I cant mix the dual terror distortion and delays per examle.......
If i could i wouldnt buy any distortion pedal because i love the dual terror sound.
THe Mad Professor Stone Grey Distortion Pedal sounds great to me... Any other option?

You can run a delay in front of a distorted amp. It's not the optimal placement, but countless guitarists run their boards straight into the front input of an amplifier to simplify setup. Amplifier distortion is almost always more full sounding than pedals, so would you rather sacrifice delay tone and use the Dual Terror's distortion, or sacrifice on the distortion by using a pedal and getting better delays? Of course, I'm generalizing, and there are some pedals that sound fantastic, and most don't show much fault until cranking to band practice/gig volumes.

wampler triple rec

This....

Hit YT and hear for yourself. A triple wreck will make a tele into a fender amp make ya think it's a Mesa. A monster in a box.

The bands he's referring to have all used Marshall at some point (except maybe Baroness?). He might not be wanting the Mesa sound.

this. i run all my pedals in front of my marshall(no loop), and they work well. the trick for me has been just dont use too much distortion.. for that kinda tone you want volume! more than gain.

I like the effec of echo in the delays, i tried and i usually play at high volumes.
Doesn't work.... that space effect tottaly goes away when i use distortion...

I didnt knew that distortion pedals lost their intensity when played at high levels tough. I guess i'll have to try it in that condition then...

Seems to me that the Dual Terror doesn't do cleans very well. Drop $39(US) and get yourself a BOSS SD-1 and run it in front of the amp. This should get you the spectrum of rock tones you're looking for. As far as other effects go (chorus, delay, etc.) you're going to need to try and set the amp as clean as possible. Then try a BOSS POWER STACK and DD-20 in front of the amp. Key there is to keep the amp overdrive to a minimum.

Hope this helps,

i'm not sure which ones but there's probably some killer overdrive/distortion pedals that have loops. Set the amp pretty clean. Maybe the new Orange OR50 is what you need. Not sure if it has a loop though. Used Rockerverb or Thunderverb maybe?

I love the amp!
Clean and distortion sound awsome.
Clean and effects sounds delicious.
Distortion and effects sounds messy.
But, since i cant mod the amp to have a fx loop, i have to buy a pedal to put before the effects...
I have the spectrum of distortions that i need (amp distortion and 2 drive pedals one to boost the other to overdrive).

So what i need is, or a distortion pedal to use before the effects on this amp, or a new amp, as good as this one, but with fx loop. (wich, this last option, i'm not finding)

Edit: Is it true that distortion pedals lose their intensity when use at high volumes?
