I would like to buy a distortion to play in the clean chanel of my Mesa Rectoverb 50 head. Would like to have a distortion that can give me the feel of tbe distortion, dynamics , with balls, versatile but more in the Marshall vibe than Mesa vibe. What would you recommand?

Thanks

Don't forget to check out the Bogner Ecstasy Red pedal

Another nod for the red. Shameless, cheesy pimping, but the tune in my sig is the Bogner Red (all the leads) into a plexi set loud and CLEAN.

I had a rectoverb and it has plenty of good distortion itself ,adding a distortion pedal will sound like shit as usual..

Sounds great.

What setting do you use on the Red?

If you don't mind the switches and the knobs.

Thanks!

Thanks! I've since sold it (nothing against the pedal, loved it) as I just decided to make that switch back to getting the majority of my gain from the amps and then clean boosting w/pedals. I do have a picture on my work PC of the settings though, tomorrow I'll bump this with them. Off memory I do know I used most of the middle positions on the toggles except the far right, which was set to the right I believe (most gain). I also did not care for the boost, it was off.

The Wampler Pinnacle is my go-to for marshall tones out of 6L6 heads. Also a fan of the newer Carl Martin Plexitone.

Boss DS-1. Been around for ever and there's a reason why.

I love my marshall guv'nor2 for my marshall sounds.....I have 2 one normal and the other with the c22 mod. If you want marshall then go marshall

For Marshall madness, you might take a look/listen at the Catalinbread Dirty Little Secret also!

Dude, he says he wants a different flavor :)

ToneBone Hot British sounds pretty cool.

I have a Rectoverb Series II. I like a Bogner Red into squeaky clean for a change up. But the Red also sounds good into my DSL. the key seems to be keeping the gain down. Way down. Too much and is squishes out. Down low it is very amp like.

But honestly, it is easier to put a Wampler Triple Wreck in front of the DSL100 and get the Recto sound out of the Marshall than put a pedal in front of the Recto and get a Marshall tone.

YMMV.

Don't you have any clips of the Red in the clean chanel of your Rectoverb?

I use single channel amps and need a good overdrive for dirt if im setting my marshall for clean. I just picked up a zvex distortron for crunch and use my maxon od808 to boost it for sustain sections. The zvex can get pretty fat which is why i like it..
