DIY Pedal board Junction Box?

I'm thinking about building a junction box to clean up my pedal board. It will have 4 ins and 4 outs. It seems straightforward enough to build (a Hammond box, 8 switchcraft #11 jacks, and some wire), but I've never done it before. Has anyone made one and, if so, are their any tips you can provide to avoid ground loops or unwanted noise? Thanks in advance.

Shielded cable...not wire.

Thanks. I was very loose with my language. I plan on using George L cable, not wire.
