They did the same thing for Gary and then again with Mike. Eddie is a joke and Alex has to go along with whatever he says. It is not a coincidence that Wolfgang is playing bass. EVH needs to surround himself with yes men. Wolfgang is there to do what daddy wants. He might be adequate, but no one gives a shit about Wolfgang without VH. Damn, a lot of VH fans don't give a shit about Wolfgang within the confines of VH either.
 
Considering the fact that Malmsteen wears pirate shirts and writes songs about sports cars and the crusades that sell in Japan, I don't think mentioning his name is relevant because he is so far removed from reality that criticism is not a word in his vocabulary. He's Ynvie f_cking Malmsteen.. how dare any mortal man not recognize that he is the second coming of Bach and Vivaldi rolled into Hendrix? Leg KICK and harmonic minor NOW!

DLR is spunky but he comes across a little tired on stage. I don't think the gig is for him anymore and he certainly didn't blow me away when i saw them at the beginning of their reunion tour. Ed just taps shit.. I don't feel the same swing and fun in his playing anymore. The things which made him great I really don't hear anymore. Still an excellent player though.

Fair enough. Coming off the heels of studio80something's post I just figured it was another condescending, dogmatic commentary. Thanks for clarifying.

And just to further clarify, I was an EVH fanboi in 1980 but that wore off about 1982... I liked Lynch but never got to fanboi status, although he's got some great tunes with Lynch Mob.

Me stating I have an opinion is just that, a statement. No implications were made, nothing was inferred.

It probably won't change your opinion of me, but for the record, I'm not a hater.
EVH was my first guitar idol. The walls of my bedroom were Eddie from top to bottom. So much so that my parents started to think I was gay.
Yngwie changed my life when I heard Blackstar on the square record disc-like things they included in Guitar Player magazine. (remember those? Vai's The Attitude Song was the first one)
Lynch Mob (edit: Wicked Sensation) is my grail tone.

Personally, I'm disappointed that some of my heroes don't stand on a pedestal as high as I used to place them. But that's my problem and I should probably just keep it to myself.

Like others have pointed out, EVH and DLR are an integral part of their lives, and have been for many years.
I still stand behind my opinion, but for spitting on some else's sacred ground, I will apologize.

I was watching the news last night and it was crazy. Didn't know what was going to happen but sure enough, there was a single gunshot and then a fire.
 
I was hoping they'd make another album. I enjoyed the last one. It's fun. :aww:

VH used to be cool but now their just old & tired sounding (ie Hazbeen)

I cut my teeth in the 80's and let it go a long time ago in the early 90's.

That said ADKOT was one of the CD's I've enjoyed the most in the last year. A sober Ed no matter his age equals some very good music.

Maybe you can explain to me what there is to let go of? Do you agree or disagree that if people like music, regardless of the era it came from or how old the writers/performers are that it's a good thing?
 
Unless something completely crazy happens (like EVH kills a busload full of infants), I'll always take his side over DLR and I'll tell you why. First off, in alot of the videos I've seen of them live (including the show I attended in Pittsburgh last year), Eddie kicked total ass and was having a blast onstage. DLR was out-of-key and bitching about the "fucking P.A. guy" or the "fucking air conditioner is blowing on me". At the show I saw they were into "She's the Woman", just the second song of the night, and he was already trying to humiliate the camera guy for hogging all of the fans' space at the front of the stage. His routine was the same every night.

I think Eddie sober is a different person obviously than Eddie drunk. In the past I'm sure he caused issues with everyone but he finally seems to be on the right path.

With the EVH gear, the great new album, sold-out shows, etc. it is a shame that this is going to once again turn into a typical EVH situation. Eddie's playing was so great when I saw them in Pittsburgh. Blew me away.

I refuse to replace my 80's hard rock/metal with alot of the crap that is out now. Every once in awhile I'll hear a great metal band but to me, alot of this stuff just sounds too polished and perfect. Just my opinion.
