DLR With VH OR On His Own?

The "no brown M&M backstage" thing was in their contract and the reason they did that is to make sure their contract was being adhered to down to the letter.
So many bands got screwed in contracts VH wasn't going there with that.

I personally liked early VH and Roth more than any other post VH/Roth groups. I do think Roth kept a better focus on being Roth when VH went into Night Ranger territory. The early years before Van Halen was released is something never discussed much. Board tapes of cover tunes before they were massively produced, pretty awsome shit. In my opinion Roth fell short of the demanding non stop partying tours VH continued, he got burnt out, who wouldn't have. That was a long stretch! Countless intros missed, vocal lines totally left out, to busy playing karate kid/Male striper instead of lead singer or high AF, He was a great front man regardless, if not THE best. The lead singer being upstaged by the guitar player isnt always accepted. Roth got some of the best guitarist in his solo bands, good lord! He was definitely not to gassed on those tours!

I would love to see DLR, Billy Sheehan, Steve Via and Grerg Bissonette do some really funky.

Stay within DLR's vocal capability and do an album of crazy , way out, funky shit.

The first two DRL albums are tits. Vai's quirkiness worked extremely well with Dave's quirkiness. The music and videos were fun. The musicianship was on another level. Both of those albums showcase some pretty phenomenal technical playing while keeping in musical. I listen to Eat 'Em And Smile all the time.

Yup never seen Van Halen live. Love their early albums. Eruption blew my mind as a kid!
But the dlr show was freaking great!!
Well I was in the 9 th grade. Haha
But man helluva show!!

I thought they both brought something unique to the band, and were a perfect fit at just the right time. Hard to compare...I loved them both.

I know Dave always did a bit of the "Boozley, Bob", etc type stuff since VH first started but it was too much when I saw him on tour with VH around 2015 or so. He was doing the Cha, Cha and dressed like a guest at a wedding with short hair, etc. Just was hard to watch.

The DLR fronted Van Halen was magic. DLR without Van Halen not so much.

Bart Walsh was an incredible guitarist. His great uncle was guitarist Cecil Campbell, who was a pioneer of country music. Cecil was the one who introduced Bart to playing the guitar.

Check his playing at 3:35 time marker... EVH meets George Lynch.

RIP
