I bought a used hot head which has some cool properties to it but have not played it loud with band. Of course I always want to try every model from a maker. Is it safe to say that If I like or dislike this pickup then the rest of them will sound similar? Im kind of interested in an Angel Dust, 2nd degree bb and detroiter but dont want to blow a bunch of money if Im already there with hot head

No they don't, I have a custom BB set, 2nd Deg BB, Detroiter, and Afwayu all in the same models of Japanese LP clone. All are very distinct in feel and tone. You will not be wasting your money since finding the right pickups is a crucial part of your instrument, and the differences are not subtle.

Which of those is your favorite bridge pup in the LP? Ive been thinking about the Afawyu.

they all sound and feel way different, I have tried the black iron, angel dust, hot head, and another I cant remember.

I've got an Afwayu in an LP and a V, and a Detroiter in another LP. The Afwayu is a very hot pup, mine's around 15.7k. It is tight with a ton of low end. Too much for some, but I dig it. Pretty balanced midrange and top end. Smooth and warm. The Detroiter is not quite as hot at around 11k. It has a prevalent midrange with a pissed off snarl to it. It has a nice tight, low end with a nice grit to the high end. Both great pup's and definitely worth checking out.

Cool thanks! Your description of the Afwayu sounds like what Im looking for. How does it clean up with the volume knob?

Very well! All around great pup.

When on the phone with Wade years ago he also told me that it was also designed to split the coils very well too. Great all-round pickup.. cannot emphasize enough on how well it cleans up.

The detroiter on the other hand for me does not clean up well at all.... but on the gain side... stand-back
