Do I need a buffer ???

I've had good success with my Wampler Clean Buffer. Going all true-bypass with a dedicated buffer is the way to go. I run 20 and 30 foot cables with no tone loss, and I get to roam all over the stage and put on a show when I play. Definately get a buffer.

I've ordered the custom interface with Casey.
Hope the product is as impressive as his service .. very easy to deal with.

Got to add a little post script to this..
Just had an E Mail from Casey to say he'd forgotten to give me my 10% forum discount and had issued an immediate refund.
I didn't even know about the offer so I really have to say he's what we in the UK would call a " stand up guy ".

Yep, Casey's the "real deal". I know people might get sick of me pumping him up, but too bad - he deserves it!

Casey's Stevia buffer is fantastic. Very transparent. Can be built into just about anything. I have his buffers on all of my boards and they are awesome. He can do them in standard 9VDC or an 18VDC version for increased headroom. I highly recommend that anyone looking for a buffer contact Casey and see what he can do for you!

I guess you didn't need a "buffer"

thanks guys.. i'm not out to screw people over.. as a one man shop i do my best to keep everyone happy!

and for those interested, if you did want a boost option on your buffer (like the empress) i can easily do that with the stevia. in all honesty though, you normally don't want to buffer AND boost right at the start of your chain, so its not useful in many applications...

Is the buffer in the Boss really that bad ?

I had mine modded and the guy told me that the buffer in these older Boss pedals was as good as it gets and his mod was designed to leave that aspect untouched.

The mod itself is fantastic.

I can't speak for that pedal, but I was just trying my SD-1 a couple days ago and noticed it affecting the sound a bit when off and then switched in my Ibanez TS-10 where it is not noticeable. It may be worth trying each single pedal plugged into the amp and then plugging in directly one after the other to see if you notice a difference.

If I did have a pedal that was great but caused any tone change/loss while turned off, I'd get a cheap looper pedal with true bypass for it.

The buffer also seems like a cool idea if there's any tone loss from having a lot of pedals and/or long leads, too.
