Do I need a Soldano?

Alright, I have way too much gear, I'll never be able to play it all. Most of my guitars are in the garage in their cases and rarely see the light of day. All of my amps are in storage; my Budda Superdrive 45 and 80, Landry Lexi, Morris XS III, Peavey Rockmaster, and my Marshall and Peavey power amps. I don't even get to play my Helix Rack I bought right before I had to put all this stuff in storage and move. I sold my MGL 7 or 8 months ago (wished I hadn't). So, obviously I don't need anymore amps....but there's a somewhat local'ish guy with a Hot Rod 100+ for sale for what seems like a pretty good price.

Should I be wise and let someone else get this one, or make another stupid financial decision and buy it so someone else doesn't get to have it? lol I've never played one, but c'mon, it's an old school Soldano.

Yes, everyone needs a Soldano.

Truth be told, I sold my SLO100 almost immediately because it sounded like shit unless it was making my ears bleed from the volume.

Sounds like my sort of amp tbh. Do they make a combo?

I love my soldano HR25, amazing amps. Clean to mean.

I would look hard at that used HR100+

I remember hearing that the EVH amps have similar architecture as far as circuit design.

Not sure that is true maybe someone can comment on that.

Play it and try it out. They are fucking excellent for hair metal tones, which seems to be the lane you like best

I love the hotrod series

I owned the SLO 100 many times since the Mid 90’s.
I love my X88IR preamp. Way more versatile

HR+'s are cool amps. I have a HR50+ and love it. If it's cheaper than other comps, pick it up and get acquainted with it. Easy to flip it later and break even (or make a buck) if it doesn't do what you want.

@Shreddy Mercury I think I found your answer bro:

"While Soldano amplifiers are legendary for their high-gain overdrive, they are highly effective for neo soul primarily due to the exceptional headroom and "Hifi" clarity of their clean channels. Neo soul often requires a "pristine" clean tone that remains articulate even when using complex extended chords."
