Speaking of tuners, does anyone make a good set of tuners for a Les Paul that are a direct replacement without modifying the headstock or drilling extra holes?
Standard or custom LP?

It's a Studio, thanks.

Great news man!! Glad they worked out for ya!

I have a set of Sperzel's for my LP, they'l be going on the guitar tonight

Well last night I bought a set of Schaller locking tuners. They work GREAT. My guitar stays in tune after heavy whammy use… all without using any Nut Sauce or lube. I am very happy with the results especially since my old tuners were Schaller's and the only modification I had to do was drill for new screws. I don’t even have to use a string tree anymore!!!

awesome, glad it work out.

I second this motion. I want to replace the tuners on my Edwards with some locking ones. What do you guys suggest?

Truss rod adjustment shouldn't cause a guitar to stay in or out of tune.

Pete
You dont think a backbowed neck is going to affect how well your guitar stays in tune? Not that I work on my guitars, cause I dont. :D

Then again if his inntonation is fine..... :scared:

Hey Shea, i have these Sperzel Trim Lok 3+3 tuners for my R7 Goldtop LP

Im fitting them to my guitar either tonight or tomorow if i dont have time tonight. Im going to get a new nut fitted too, which should make the guitar much more tuning-stable than it was originally

I dont like Sperzels personally....they are too big and bulky and sometimes put too much weight at the headstock and make it neck heavy. There are lots more choices nowadays :)

There's no need for them if your guitar has a locking nut, unless you want to save a few minutes on string changes.

This is precisely why I have locking tuners on all my Floyded guitars...

Schaller locking tuners are a direct replacement. I put some in my old LP, and they're the only locking tuners I'd recommend. They're solid.

Well i have just installed the Sperzels on my LP, i had to drill out the holes everso slightly but not by much. I honestly didnt realise the Schallers were a direct replacement, or i woulda bought those. But anyway, its done now so its all good!

I havent strung her up yet, but will tomorow and il report back with my opinion!

Any thoughts on using a Kahler floating trem with locking tuners Not using locking nut?

Thanks,

Jackmart
