If i sit in front of a V30 cab and not compare it to anything I like it. Whenever I plug into other speakers and play for while then go back to the V30 cab I usually go AGH, that sounds horrible. Then a few minutes go by and it doesn't bug me.

It's sorta the same feeling I get when I listen to this FLuff clip where the V30's just sound like a wall of hiss to me.

Constant amp flipping is one surefire way to get tired of any given speaker, as some match up great with V30s, and others not.

Man, those WGS's sounded horrible to my ears. Definitely preferred the v30's in that clip!

PS: I love my v30 loaded Diezel cab....

No
My v30s has been with me for over 20 years.
sits in a rock solid cabinet.....
love them

I havent found a speaker i like as much as the v30.
They work great for the music i play and with the amps i like.

Used to hate them but I've been running them in a pattern with 12H30 speakers. Still get tired of them from time to time but they're great for what I play/like.

I actually like the V30s and went back to them a few months ago. I also picked up a used Splawn cab with the V30s/G12H30 70th Annys, which shine on face melting gain. I also really like the Heritage G12H 75hz speakers especially paired with the Heritage G12H 55hz.

I don't like either sound in that clip...

I watched that clip and thought holy crap that's fizzy..but then my ears adjust. The speaker switches and I go holy crap again..then y ears adjust....LOL

I think that V30s sound great when you're playing un-mic'd, with a full band. By themselves, they can get annoying. But when a heavy-hitting drummer and aggressive bass player kick in, the V30s shine.

I ran V30s in my horizontal recto 212 for awhile. They always sounded pretty good if I was standing in front of the cab with the speakers pointing at my legs.  I know they can sound excellent under a mic, but when I plug into a cab and sit in front of those speakers, they cut my head off. They always have that overly dry tone which to me sounds like the speaker cone is ripping open.

I am much more comfortable with some Greenbacks or mixing the V30s with something less "spiky" like a Weber or H30. Also digging my Marshall cab with 75s.

Exactly. The only time I get tired of them is when I'm by myself jamming at home. Crank them up with the band and it's a different story.

Had two 4x12's of V30's, couldn't give them away, took a loss getting rid of them.

Will never again.

Really dug the clip (can you be my neighbor danyeo?) and both tones; guess each is dependent on the ensemble.

That not me, that guy FLuff used to hang out here.

And I agree with much that's said, alone the V30's can tire your ear out or rip your head off but with a band they do cut well.

I like V30's with a band, but at home for practice not so much. I have a closed back 112 with a V30, that's it. I don't use it much, but its nice to have around....
