I like V30's with a band, but at home for practice not so much. I have a closed back 112 with a V30, that's it. I don't use it much, but its nice to have around....

I have a little Mesa Thiele 1x12 loaded with an EVM 12L and I love how my Mark III sounds on it. It's lot's of bass and you can crank it as loud as you want. Sometimes I actually prefer it to a 4x12 loaded with V30's. I imagine 2 Thiele cabs would be sick.

I think it's very amp dependent. That said, I like them in the bottom of a 4x12 with greenbacks on the top. Although the V30 is more efficient, the volume difference is hardly noticeable. I think a lot of V30 judgement is passed by players who haven't allowed for them to break in properly...that's been the case with friends/players who I know.

I thought the V30 was far better than than the WGS in that clip...it had a much stronger mid presence. The WGS was very scooped sounding and would be a cause of concern for me as far as getting lost in a live mix.

I hate the way the V30 sounds in that clip but it would cut better in a mix than the Warehouse.

As couple guys already said, it really depends on the amp. Jubilee + V30s is an amazing combo. Sounds simply perfect for my tastes. The one cab that works with every Marshall regardless is my 1980 Marshall A cab with G12 65s. Really great speaker. The V30s and other Marshalls I've had is an ok combo, not as good as Greenies or 65s. One way of having a varying palette of tones is not to buy multiple amps, but multiple cabs...I run the Jubilee through an old B cab with G12 80s and it seriously sounds like a modern metal style amp..with a boost in front of course. Cabs are cheaper than amps too..

Those mesa Thiele 112s are great. I wish my 112 was a thiele, its just a clone of a mesa recto 112. Still a nice cab, but no where near as full bodied sounding as an EVM-12L in a thiele 112.

I think that V30s sound great when you're playing un-mic'd, with a full band. By themselves, they can get annoying. But when a heavy-hitting drummer and aggressive bass player kick in, the V30s shine.

I found that I like V30s more after mixing them with a pair of K-85s in my diesel front-loaded cab. The sound is fatter now, better lows and the highs have been tamed somewhat. I'll be rocking this configuration for quite some time to come now I think.

Mesa and Bogner V30 cabinets sound awesome to me. Nothing compares for recording in my humble opinion, and they're pretty cool live too, even though I tend to use Greenbacks when I play with the band.

This guy is my latest hero and it's interesting what he uses for recording and the sound he got for the album he's talking about is pretty awesome.
