Do you hate it if you ding your guitars?

How do you feel when you put a scratch/bash/chip/ding in your guitars?

I just found a small chip to the wood on one of my PRS's today. No idea how it happened. Didn't really bother me at all though surprisingly. A year ago and I would be in tears if that kinda thing happened but nowadays I think its just some more mojo to the guitar. The only guitars I don't want to ding are my Suhr's and private stock PRS.

I am tempted to try and relic an old sky blue strat I have. The paint has faded over time, necks starting to get fret wear so kinda wondering if I can fast track the ageing! Maybe get some sandpaper on the body etc

Like most things, the first ding is the hardest then after that it doesn't really matter. On a side note, I relic'd my guitars in a rather unusual way. Back when I used to drink a lot, I'd throw my Strats across the dance floor to show how indestructible they were.....Lots of chips & dings but luckily no major damage. Looking back on it, it's kind of funny & sad at the same time....

I do hate it, but I usually get over it pretty quickly. The guitar is a tool. Tools get beat up if you're working with them. Unless it's a case queen, a ding is bound to happen! :aww:

Bugs me if I have an inclination to sell it down the road. But at this stage of the game, all my guitars are "lifers", at least I think. I know things can change, but..... :dunno:

So in short, no.

Im not to fussed if it happens "in the heat of battle" and i do it
I play the crap out of my guitars, call it good mojo

however, if someone else dings it...

i feel like slitting his throat crap down his neck and then put his nuts in a meat grinder :gethim:

go figure

Damn straight i don't like dings, scratches, etc. etc.

Don't care if it's $300 or $3000, i want to take good care of my stuff.

Relicing is retarded IMHO. Earn your wear, or get the fuck out of town!

The first one hurts the worst. After that, it's a tool and they get beat. First one always kills me though.

Pretty much the same for me.
The one that hurt the worst was backing my office chair into my Taylor 714ce.
That hurt worse than seeing my LP Special fall over during a gig, snapping its headstock off!

Same here. I never like the first one, but hardly notice anything after that.

I am the same way. It bugs me for a day or two, then I just accept it.

Don't prefer it, but play it long enough and SOMETHING is going to happen...

No, if I cause the ding. Yes, if someone else does. Ha

Only if I plan on selling down the line.

Guys freak out about closet queens. Even harder to sell something that someone dared looked at.

This.

I actually get more pissed when my amps get ding'd.

I am not a fan of "mojo'd" amps

No concern at all, if it's a keeper....if you're planning to sell, it's a kick to the nuts, for sure.

Exactly! my studs and bracelets ect, that scratches the finish and I don't care really.
The guitars I've had for a long time got some nice wear from that and where my arm rests that went through the paint, its really cool

Blackie? Is that you? :D

Ding...no. Break yes. Back in college I watched my Gibson Explorer fall off its stand in slow motion and saw the headstock break. That was devastating to me. I got it fixed and sold it because I could not deal with looking at it anymore....lol.
