Do you hate it if you ding your guitars?

Accidentally clinked one of my Strats into my beloved LP the other day. Put just the tiniest little discoloration on the binding. I almost got sick

The strat's beat to hell, but I dig every scar it gets. Felt exactly the same when it got it's first chip though. I even made efforts to attempt covering it up.

My buddy heard of a guy who puts the first scratch into his gun as soon as he buys it. That way he doesn't worry about it and instead shoots it, as intended. Although I would never do that to one of my guitars, I can see the line of logic.

Yeah, there are no safe queens in this house

I throw my guitars at the stack sometimes ....

Shit happens when you party naked.

It's a tool, even though you take care of it, dings, bumps, chips or whatever will happen. To me it's no big deal.

Snapped headstock is different, though.

I often buy used. Some of the best deals and guitars are from Steve K. They usually come with a whiskey ding or two and set up great.

Very few new guitars, but they are still in like new shape.

If you gig, it's going to happen...it's unavoidable so I don't concern myself with it. Home players who flip a lot of guitars probably think differently though as it does hurt resale value for the case queen crowd.

When it's my Jackson "beater", the more dings the better... but I still want the skulls paint scheme to looks nice!!

For my Liberatore I used to be super crazy, but what the hell it's a metal guitar...

Relicing is retarded IMHO. Earn your wear, or get the fuck out of town!
I know this is flame-suit material... But I have to agree.

I get pretty annoyed when the acoustic gets dinged. The others, not so much.

This.

I wish the relic thing would hit the auto industry, so I can sell my car for more than a new one.

+eleventeen brazillion! With that said I hate putting the first ding in a guitar but once it is done then it doesn't really matter much. Cheers, Lucius

I really really hate it. But I've put just about every ding in my LP Studio and absolutely love that thing

After the first ding I'm ok then it ends up like this after 55years

Doesn't feel good at all, but I just tell myself that they're supposed to be played and eventually I forget about the dings (until the next time I see them hah)

I will never intentionally ding a guitar but I never let worrying about abuse keep me from using or gigging with a guitar either, after all they are made to be played. Often it adds a little character and if I didn't have resale for some in the back of my mind I would care even less. It's nice though when I pick up a great guitar at a steal of a price on tgp because it has a nick in the paint on the back and nobody wants it, I play em so I don't care.

take care to your hands ,fingers , brain but guitars ...

Yes, I hate my guitars and ding them all the time.

I hate dings, dents, nicks, etc., but unfortunately, nothing goldtop can stay. Bonus points to anyone who gets that allusion.
