In my opinion he just did his job and got fired for publicising his thoughts. So thoughtcrime and fired because they don't the reality of what he does. He just enjoyed his job which happened to cause a bit of misery. The misery was however caused by the weather, the actions of people who parked their cars in the wrong places and partially due to the act of having to clear the road.

The real problem is having to live in such close vicinity to each other and having people in charge that just create animosity.
