Do you listen to an artist's music before their show?

My gf and her friends went to see Lady Gaga a week or two ago. And before they went, they were blasting her music non-stop for hours to get pumped up. And she and I are going to a show tonight and she's been listening to the artist's songs all day. And I realized that it seems kinda weird to me to do that because I kind of get overloaded or oversaturated by it. I mean... I'm about to see the band perform the same songs live, so why would I listen to those songs on repeat for hours and hours beforehand?

What's everybody's take on it? Do you do this before a concert? I told her I listen to similar music to get in the mood for a show, but not the exact music.

In fact, she just told me she knows the artist's exact set list for tonight and she's been listening to the same exact songs lol. Kinda ruins the show for me...

Not so much like that on the same day. More in the weeks and months leading up to it. More so if I’m seeing a band I haven’t already delved into their stuff before. Annoying thing is you end up wanting to hear certain songs and they don’t play them.

I will definitely listen to that group heavily before the show since I can't afford concert tickets to begin with. That's for rich people now.

Usually a month or two before a show, I’ll try to listen to them a little less, if it’s something that I’ve been playing lately.

I enjoy seeing a band live & hearing them start into something I’ve not heard in a while.

No. That's as weird as wearing the band's shirt to their show. I like asking those people which band on the bill they came to see when I spot them. They are usually the ones you hear listening to the band as they pull up to the venue. It's weird.

I go out of my way to avoid hearing the same band I’m about to see in the days preceding the show

If you have any interest I'd recommend local music in clubs.....I say this as a guitar player who quit playing out in about 2011.
I recently got to playing casually in a very part time band with players out there gigging with their regular bands.
I'm checking out some of this music and contrary to much of my thoughts, the scene has positively advanced... At least musically anyway by some bands.

I prefer not to do that stuff & mostly chat / hang-out with whoever I go with. If there's music around leading up to the show, I prefer it to be different from what I'm going to the show for.
