I've been experimenting with using chorus/flanger/reverb/compression on heavily distorted guitar parts to further differentiate the emotional content/theme the riff conveys, while still being "heavy".

It's pretty cool hey! I love using modulation too with a lot of amp dirt & (dare I say) pedal dirt...but also too experiment heaps with how to apply the modulation effects. It's tricky to keep the effect sounding rich without it drowning out the sound or making a lot of noise.

Not a lot of it, but yes.

That's one of the things I really love about my RKII, individual reverb controls for each channel.

On recordings I use a touch. It gives it an extra dimension imo. As for jamming, no. I use the room and my master volume for reverb.

I don't...I feel like it washes out the attack and overall response. I like my distorted sounds to react to my playing quickly...not necessarily that I need a crazy tight tone, but I don't like that 'washy' sound flowing over on the distorted sounds.

Eric

This. I can't stand high gain with reverb, and I can't stand cleans without it :) One in a while a bit added in post production may help something sit in the mix better (it can sound wierd if everything else is wet and the guitar is dry), but that's it.

Delay in the loop, on the other hand, is a different story

It is time based so in the loop it goes for me.

Not a question of wether it is on but how much for me as well :D

in loop or wet side of wet/dry. I usually only will use it for small sections of songs that I want an expanded, wider sound on. I always have a dry signal there as well though.
