Do you work out?

At all?
1. Gym Rat?
2. Fat bastard that gave up
3. I get some cardio in
4. I'll never work out, I want to end up an HMO slave when I'm old, spending my retirement going from specialist to specialist.

I work out daily. I try to do something. I can burn calories by sitting still. I'm constantly moving, even though I am in IT and have to sit on my ass 8 hours a day which pains the fuck out of me. IT was the worst decision I've ever made, yet allows for a good income, so I'm torn.

I run 1 mile per day, when I get up, just to have some energy to make it though the day. I have a treadmill, but haven't used it in a bit. I find it rather boring. So these days I get up at 5am. Do wim hof breathing for 10 minutes, then run around the house doing laps will 1 mile is up. This is after light stretching. I recently started getting back into weight lifting. Since I started fasting 19:5, I do all my eating later in the day and when I do heavy weights in the AM, I find myself shaky as fuck after, which sometimes is bordering on anxiety, so I just said fuck the weights.

But I realize that lean muscle mass is one of the main indicators for health, according to my research, and the fact that my wife doesn't get any exercise, I told her that we have to start resistance training. I am trying to get it in her head that you have to do something, every single day. She's got planters fasciitis and uses that as an excuse to not work out. So I asked her if she could sit in a chair and swing her arms around for 20 minutes.

So we got some resistance bands and you can attach them to doors and stuff and resistance train your arms and legs in all different directions. I'm feeling good doing this and it's helping with energy levels. I get freaked out about becoming an HMO slave. My mother in law is 68 and 2 years away from full blown Alzheimer's. Not saying exercise would have saved her. She's not overweight by any means, but I just know, based on research that exercise is the most preventative thing there is.

My dad is 80 and today he's up in NH at his house stripping carpet in a bedroom, putting in some brazillian hardwood floors. No special diet, no crystals or pills. Just eats a normal diet and doesn't indulge in shit food and too much alcohol. I hope I'm doing as good when I'm 80. But all his friends stopped moving years ago, and then they stopped moving permanently.

So what do you guys do, if anything to keep your ship in good order physically? I have to fucking fight with myself every single day to get my ass moving, but no is not an option. Military background helps as well I guess. I don't have a ton of discipline in other areas of my life.

My wife says she married buff daddy and I turned into puff daddy. Because of some abdominal operations I can't lift over 8lbs. No more power lifting for ole dad. I have imparted my knowledge and love of the grind to my youngest son. He's turning into a monster. Japetus can attest to this...

So doesn't the body heal? I read that the whole body regenerates every 7 years. So if you have an injury, I guess it just recreates the injury? Mind = boggled.
So 7 lbs is better than nothing eh?
Get crackin soldier.

Had a hole in my esophagus repaired. Turned into them slicing me open from chest to crotch...lol. pulled some stuff out and pressure washed and roto-rooted me. Developed an incisional hernia. I'm on my third repair and this one seems to be holding. I have also listened to the doctor as well. Nothing like having a tube stuffed through your nose and left for a few days to wake you up. Plus I have other issues as well. That's why I will just shoot a mofo and be done with it. Trigger finger works fuckin great bro.

Like you, I was a desk jockey in IT for 30 years, with the last 15yrs working from home. And although I did enjoy the freedom that gave me, I found that I actually worked more hours per week for better or worse. I just didn't realize it because I was spreading it out over the day. At least when I used to drive into the office I would get exercise going down 2 floors for a smoke break :D

As I've gotten older, I've gotten more serious about working out. I don't do anything special or overly rigorous but try to at least put in 15-20 minutes a day. I call it the 10 min workout. If I had to take 60 or 45 or 90 minutes a day to drive to a gym.....I wouldn't do it. So my 10 minute workout (which is actually 20 now) allows my brain to believe that it is a brief amount of time. It started as 10 minutes on a stationary bike, several reps of 10 on my weight station, and then 10 sit-ups and 10 push ups. Sometimes I fail and could go several weeks without this, usually due to travel. But the 10's become 11's and then 12's - which is where I'm at now. Again, nothing spectacular, but keeps me moving. It also helps that I quit smoking 2 packs a day (Camel Lites)

Now that I'm semi-retired and bored, the last thing I want to do is another desk jockey job. My arms and hands have had enough of that. So, I'm going to run a food truck - which will keep me moving and most importantly...get me outside.

My job is pretty physical so I work out every day. I’m 55, 5’10” and 165 lbs. And I outwork all the young punks around here. 😉
6'-2" 175lbs. and bring in $2,500/week here.

I was working out about 30 minutes 3x weekly plus wood chopping/hauling/splitting and other outdoor labors until two weeks ago when I was working crouched down polishing some HD forks for a few hours and my back went into spasm mode so I been trying to take it easy. I was running 3 miles once or twice weekly but I smoke a little tobacco which kind of messes that up and makes me not want to run. Plus I also had to shoot my running dog so I don't have a partner to watch my back. I was down to about 22 minutes for 3 miles which was pretty good for me. When I gig more I tend to smoke more and I had a few gigs lately. Ideally I'd be able to do 20 minutes with a bullet proof vest on but that is gonna require some dedication and quitting smoking.

My problem is building mass and keeping it on. I'm about 6'4" and fluctuate between 195 and 210 but have a hard time eating like a hog so I always been on the skinny side. I'd like to be about 220-240 but I don't think I can stuff enough food down. Just not a big eater. Plus it's great Lent and I ain't even supposed to be eating meat but I have so I confessed that the other day. I need to get motivated because being strong and having good cardio makes gigs and hard work so much easier. For a while I was so worked out with exercise and wood cutting I couldn't see straight at the end of the day I was so tired. It feels good but it's tough to focus on your guitar when you can't keep your eyes open.
