Does anyone dislike 6V6 amps?

Seems like the perfect tube for Fender cleans and Marshall gain. From what I've heard of them - while the bottom end isn't the most solid - they have a great breakup when pushed. Anyway, I'm considering the Goldfinger and am interested to hear if anyone has had a bad experience with 6V6s.

I love 6v6 amps, especially when you run them to thr right speakers.

The Carol Ann OD2r is a 6v6 amp and that thing just kills

What's there to dislike? 6V6s are such warm and round sounding tubes. Not too bright, not too dark.

So use a bunch. Isn't the Orange Rockerverb 50w running 6v6?

I'm kidding, I've never used 6V6s, I think I'm more of a preamp distortion kinda guy so lower wattage tubes never really appealed to me. The Rockerverb 50 is an awesome amp though. :)

The Orange rockerverb mkI uses 4 6V6's. The new mkII uses 2 EL34's.

6V6's are cool in my book, I have liked the amps that have had them in the power section. I know some people swear by them in a mesa mark IV (outer sockets), though I haven't tried them there myself.

The Mesa Marks sound good with any tubes IMO. Atleast, from what I've heard myself.

I always assumed that they wouldnt be good for crunchy marshall style tones, I was wrong! Everything that I have played with them I have really liked. I have a bogner duende with 6v6 and it rips! It can do the tweed thing and with the gain up it crunches up very nice. I played a friends early rockerverb 50 that came with four 6v6 and I was blown away. It totally captured the british hi gain thing beautifully. I am about to pull the trigger on the mk1 rockerverb 50 but I am waiting to hear more on the 6v6 goldfinger. I heard some clips of the new "improved" rv 50 mkII el34 but they didnt sound as nice as the mk1 version.

I have a 6V6 loaded Orange Rockerverb 50... I dig it in a one guitar mix, but as soon as I throw it in the mix of my band it just becomes too mid-heavy and unusable. That being said I do like the idea of 6V6s quite a bit... it definitely is that mix of Fender and Marshall to an extent. That being said, I would trade it for another Splawn QR in a HEARTBEAT... any takers?
