Does Mesa Boogie hate the fact that they ever made the IIC+?

And YES... it’s a IIC+! A next generation Re-Issue of the legendary amp so many Recording Artists, MESA enthusiasts and Tone Freaks the world over covet and many search high and low to find. Only THIS IIC+ will quickly de-value those original amplifiers for all but the most snobbish collectors. Why? Because it is purely and simply better. In every way!

My opinion is NO. IIC+ prices are going nowhere but up. And Mesa kicked dirt all over the IIC+ in the Mark V manual and you see Mark V's selling for $1300. What's a loaded IIC+ going for these days? And if Petrucci loved his Mark V soo much why is his new amp based on his old IIC+?

Did we ever see Marshall crap all over their old Plexi's and tell us the JVM is better than those old amps? NO.

I get it Mesa, the old IIC+ amps don't put money in your bank accounts. But why continue to try and devalue what most of us consider your best amp? Instead of trashing your legacy maybe take some of that bitterness and compare it to your competitors.

And some people have actually cancelled their deposits over this as posted on the Grail forum. But in case some of you don't know, Mesa thinks VERY little of anything posted on the grail forum. Just call up Mesa and mention that forum and you will get a reminder of how 99% of the info on the forum is wrong. Well, Mesa these are your supporters over there as well. Maybe they're mad that they can't get all the IIC+ threads deleted?

Let's be real here. If someone canceled their preorder over those comments they were probably not serious and/or faking that it was even pre ordered to begin with.

*edit* just read the grailtone thread. Whole bunch of butthurt going on over there. Only in 2015/2016 would someone get offended by being called snobbish and canceling their order.

My 2C+ is a recent upgrade, 6 months ago. When I called to get the RA# the guy almost seemed irritated. Now I get it, too many are just waiting to spend their money on a real one and not a Mk5! I'm hoping the new one compares well though.

Well, technically we are pretty damn snobbish. They're not wrong... :D

And I don't see a Mark V in your signature.

Mesa has been over the top in their manuals since day one though.

I had my preorder in place since the amp was initially leaked and was slated to be the first one to received via Sweetwater. I cancelled my order today.

Maybe you're right. While these comments tipped me over the fence, each demo released reduced my interest in the amp. It just doesn't sound that great, and certainly not better than an actual IIC+. So maybe this comment was just an excuse after all.

That said, the one that looks most "butthurt" here is Mesa....

I've dropped off a few IIC+s there for service and had very similar experiences. It must really piss Mesa off that its peak occurred over 30 years ago.

Even its most revered Recto is the one they seemingly can't replicate now....

I hate judging amps by you tube though....I really do hope it compares well, probably not quite there but its really a great package for the price. I remember after I owned an HR100, I was contemplating an SLO. Found a YouTube that seemed to be an identical comparison SLO/HR50....bought an SLO and it wasn't close to me. HRs are nice amps... SLOs are on a whole nother level.

Youtube for Mesa is basically a professional recording. If their "glamour shot" sounds lame, what do you think the un-photoshopped version is going to be like?

Based on what you've heard and your experience with the IIC+, would you pick up a JP2C over a loaded IIC+ if both were available at $2.5K?

No...of course not! Lol..I always go vintage when possible. Problem is, loaded 2C+ are hard to find for that price. But, I might take a chance on a used one down the road....

I'm grateful that the bug hasn't bit me over this new amp.I don't give a shit about this new amp or a IIC+. I'm happy with my Mk IV and the V:25 I have. I'm looking forward to this new amp coming out for one reason. When all the amp whores out there that need the newest, shiniest thing need to dump their current amps at fire sale prices to get their next fix with this thing , there will be some deals to be had out there.

HELL NO. Original all day long.

I like Mesa's as much as the next Mesa guy, but I don't understand how this can make anyone butthurt. Seriously, the days are too short to simply care what they write in their manuals. If you already own a IIc+, what is your concern, that it might actually devalue your amp? I highly doubt that, as they said, amp snobs will always drive the prices. Look at people claiming that block letter 5150's are better sounding, they're literally the same exact amp.

As PT Barnum said, a fool and his money are soon parted. So have no fear my IIc+ friends, your stock is as high as ever. For me, the midi functionality and the dual eq's on paper seems like a great thing. And I'm going to abuse the fuck out of that cab clone out put(sarcasm).

3 days ago there was a loaded original 2C+ Combo with a hardwood cabinet on Reverb for $2,500 accepting offers... It's gone now.

I'm not planning on buying the new JP amp either. I'm happy with my shitty 2C+

I hope your shitty IIC+ doesn't have one of those tone-sucking graphic EQs on them. So grateful that Mesa was kind enough to point out the superiority of the non-graphic models in the Mark V manual. And to think, people got that totally wrong for nearly 25 years

Why would you see a V in my signature? I just acknowledged the snobbery...

That being said, a buddy of mine has a V and it's his favorite amp, and he's had countless (haven't we all?).

Agreed on the manuals. They're thorough, but always a quirky read.

Yeah, and putting an EQ in the loop of the non-graphic models makes them sound exactly like the graphic models.

It's pretty childish to get all butthurt over that....I mean seriously, if someone cancelled their order because their "man" feelings are hurt now... lol.

Mesa is awesome, great company and great products. What a bunch of uppity snobbish girls.

I'm a Recto guy, not really a Mark guy, and if Mesa came out with something that they say would blow away my pre 500 rev C, I'd say bring it on.
