When you sell something privately on a forum does PayPal still hold the money like they do with eBay sales?

They sure do, all transactions sit in their accounts to earn interest for Paypal.

My PayPal money is always available immediately when I sell something on Ebay now that I have achieved their "trusted seller" status. I used to have to wait until the buyer gave positive feedback before the money was released. Once you have sold a few things without issue then you can get your money right away. I am not sure how that works with private transactions.

I have 100% feedback with 93 transactions over I don't know how many years and they still hold on eBay transactions (or at least did last time). I have someone who wants to use PayPal for for a private deal on a forum for the buyer protection and I'm just wondering if they're gonna hold it

no, they don't hold funds with paypal. its an ebay thing if you don''t have x sales on high value items.

That is kind of what I was thinking. I sold some high dollar items like nice amp heads and had smooth transactions. It was not long after that when they stopped making me wait to access my money. It has been instant access for years now. I sometimes spend the money within minutes of selling something on Ebay.

I sold a speaker to a fellow rig talker a couple of weeks ago and the money was instantly available...
