Does PLEK really work?

I'm having neck shape issues (fret side contour) with a certain guitar. I'm debating taking it to the guy who did my Wolfgangs, I absolutely love the shape of the neck, OR sending it out to have it PLEK'ed - anyone do it? Was it worth it? I'm pretty particular about action and neck relief, will I be satisfied?
Thanks

PLek will find all the high spots and such, not sure about your problem though. The machine will see it though, what happens next no idea.

You'll still need a good luthier to finish the job. If you want something PLEK'ed, I heard the guy over in TN does pretty good work.

PLEK takes a good neck and makes it play better.

Your best bet would be to get the neck levelled first, then have it PLEK'd

I had my LP Studio done up that way, and it played like butta after that.

I disagree, a luthier won't do anything better than what the machine can do, provided the person who did the PLEK setup is worth his salt...

That's the thing. If the luthier setting it up doesn't know how to work the machine properly, then there's no point in getting work done.

Joe Glasier does a great job. Here in Nashville he's the go to guy. Had him plek my Carvin and it turned out great! Shur guitars offers this at a reasonable price. If you would like Joe Glasier's contact info. PM me.

I believe he has other issues with the neck other than just leveling the frets, plek I do not think can correct a neck with issues.

That was the point behind my first post. :D
