Gave it a quick run threw after checking all the tubes and it sounded great but I still need to get it in the road case and hooked up to all my MIDI junk for the final run threw.

"Please do not drop!"

The lady who delivered it know that I always have amps coming in so she knows better when Im there to sign for them, Kinda felt sorry for her today because that is one HEAVY AMP!!!!!

its really too heavy to throw so you're ok on that... They really wont drop packages too often especially if they are heavy. They throw shit all day though and thats where items get broken....

i used to work for them... :(

That packing job is a travesty. A $4,000 amp protected by $10 in packing peanuts?

Congrats, and yes that packing job is absolute insanity!!!!!But better than some that I recieved

packed better than my Ultra Plus...that packing job was HORRENDOUS. still cant believe the amp (and tubes) survived, but the reverb tank was ripped out of the headshell. go figure that out! of course, my Single Recto was sent in much better packaging, with lots of "fragile!" and "Glass!" and "please do not drop!" stuff on there. the lady who dropped it off was like "we had a good laugh at the stuff written on it, and its heavy, so i figured you would want to carry it?" nice lady :)

enjoy your amp!

I used to load trucks for UPS and the same was true. Just the nature of the biz. I always try to pack things as if the dunces loading in the hub are going to toss them around. Some of my pack jobs are better than others, but my awareness of how things work there definitely influences my pack jobs. For me, it's NEVER about the cost. Just about what materials I can get my hands on for packing at the time.

For years I've shipped everything FedEx Ground if that says anything... ;)

Btw... a couple of years ago my XTC arrived with peanuts around it too. Luckily the seller had wrapped it in bubble wrap as well. For those who don't know how to pack amps, the BEST way to pack one (if you don't have it in a road case) is to wrap it tightly in several layers of large bubble wrap, and then have a "box" of 2" thick styro built around that, and then a heavy duty cardboard box. Everything should be tight -- not moving around at all, and taped well. A well built amp can take a ride to hell and back if packed like that. It's expensive, but it'll give the amp the best shot at arriving undamanged (outside of the road case deal of course). I'm not always able to pack an amp this way, but when I have the materials this is how I always pack it. I generally try to avoid putting peanuts in the box at all. Talk about worthless...

Wow, you still have the VH4? I miss that amp. You gonna run em stereo? :D congrats, fantastic amps.

Yea I still have "old Blue"....It has been my "gateway amp" to the wonderful world of Diezel...lol
I will be playing around with some stereo awesomeness for sure :D
Doubt I would be gigging with both, just way to much weight in amps for the shitty clubs we play.

Im impressed with the Herbert the little bit Ive played it, I guess im gonna have to check out a Hagen next!!!

That hurt me to look at pictures of that packing job. horrible and the shipper should be made aware of this.

Fed x is much better then u.p.s , if it was shipped ups it would be in a hundred pieces , that's if it showed up at all. I still don't understand what kind of moron would pack any amp like that, yet alone a high end amp like a diezel.

That packing job is a travesty. It's not the peanuts that are the problem though. The box should have been packed tight enough to make it bounce if it was dropped. There should have been at least twice as many peanuts in there.
