Dont know how FedEx didn't destroy this

Hopefully somebody on RT didn't pack the amp like that. If so, please tell us who. I wouldn't buy from him.

It's a Diezel - slap a label on the grill and ship. No worries they can take it. :)

Just glad that it did show up ok, that would have been a nightmare with insurance the way it is packed.

Inquiring minds would like to know who you bought from, because I will never buy a fucking thing from them.

Search the Classifieds, I will, for the answers there lie.

That box is also a used box as well. I would most likely say that FedEx had nothing to do with the condition.

Speaking of FedEx, I had a guy ship me an amp to mod, and it was packed in a box with just shredded newspaper! Not a scratch on it!

its really too heavy to throw so you're ok on that... They really wont drop packages too often especially if they are heavy. They throw shit all day though and thats where items get broken....

i used to work for them... :(

i used to work for ups-nothing is ever to heavy to throw.

That is one of the worst packaging jobs I have ever seen. A $3k amp deserves way better packaging than that. I would also like to know who shipped that to you... I don't think I would consider purchasing from them.

I had a Mesa Mark III shipped to me in a box. That was it, an amp head with a box in it. No bubblewrap or peanuts. I was amazed when it worked.

Time to out the person that packed this, that is if they are on RT. :gethim:

That is shameful. Congrats on your new amp beast.

Foam slabs that you can find at Home Depot are SOOOO much better than peanuts. Peanuts are worthless :gethim:

Peanuts are for small items and squirels. Absolutely awful, whoever shipped that. Glad it got there a-ok!

That they are...you can only pack them so tight and they settle a lot with a heavy item like an amp and the result is a ton of empty space around the amp. Not cool. Expensive gear deserves to be packed tightly and neatly with padding inside the amp around the tubes (if the tubes are kept in), bubblewrap/shrink wrap around the headshell, thick foam, more foam, styrofoam to reinforce the corners, and then extra material to make the box a nice tight fit... and THEN it should boxed again around the first box. Packing peanuts are fine for the second box. If done right, there's just about no drop or hit that can damage the amp, short of forklift stabbing through the boxes or some kind of intentional puncture.

When I sent my recto to Greg it literally could have been dropped off the Fedex truck onto the highway at 65 mph and survived... This is pathetic!

NO PADDING what so ever....no box....just a cardboard wrapped amp!!!
Funny thing? It was fine.
No broken tubes....no cracks in the headshell....I was AMAZED!!
Guy used to be a member here but havent seen him post in YEARS.

I've had a guitar that was just shipped in the hardshell case. It came from overseas, too... Arrived safe and sound, believe it or not. The case didn't even have a scratch on it.

When I was in Japan.....bought a Shocking pink Jem (for $850 bucks!!) . Guy shipped it from the states just like that.
In the case with no box. Just my address taped to the outside of the case.
Guitar came in.....mint....and still in tune. :D
This was late 90's when everyone hated 'shred' guitars and grunge ruled.

Oh well....its in the big merry go round of Gear. ;)

This whole entire thing is my fault. I'm the one responsible for the amp being mailed in this condition. After I saw this post this morning I immediately sent Gray a PM trying to explain everything. I will explain everything to you guys as well.
Let me start this off by saying I've been deployed during this whole process and therefore I have not been home to inspect everything/pack the amplifier myself. I had my girlfriend Holly take care of all of this for me. I bought this amp off of a guy about a month ago. He doesn't post here on RT. I didn't see any pics of the box it came in or how it was packed or anything. Holly (my girlfriend) told me it got there just fine so I didn't think anything of the packing job. Again I didn't see it. So some shit came up and I had to get rid of it. I saw Gray's post in the classifieds so I hit him up and we made a deal. I told Holly to pack it up exactly how it was packed when she had received it. Believe it or not she ended up putting extra peanuts into the box (I just found that out today). I assumed, without even seeing how this guy packed it, that he had done a good job. I never specifically asked Holly how it was packed. That was my fault for the poor communication with her in how bad the packing job actually was. Had I been home I would have made sure it was packed correctly. Also the amp was fully insured for the amount that Gray had paid for it. Take it for what it is, I apologized to Gray and have tried to explain myself as best as I could. I've learned not to have Holly be responsible for packing my music gear. If you guys want to continue to roast me on this thread, that's fine. It's not Holly's fault, it's mine.

Chris

At this time im not going to throw the guy under the buss, he has contacted me and apologized for the bad pack job and offered to make right if anything is wrong. I told him he needed to come on here and explain his case with everyone, if he does thats another story.

Whenever I sell something to someone I always take pictures of the item in different stages of the packing and send them to the buyer for suggestions/approval, on big $ items I buy I usually ask for the same thing and this time I didn't.

All in all the amp seems to be fine except Im having some problem with the MIDI but I think it programing related, if anyone is interested you can check out the topic here viewtopic.php?f=14&t=122564
