In my 10 years or so on internet forums, I never see the double neck guitars brought up. So has anyone played one, or better yet owned own? A long time ago, I thought of getting one of the Epiphone ones, but never pulled the trigger.

yeah, played an OLP double neck a few years ago - even toyed the idea of getting one but never did.

for what i play/do it is nothing i could take full advantage of. the only cool thing i could ever think about doing is having one tuned in drop D and another in standard and having a song wrote in both, which would require a double neck guitar to cover :D

i had a song once that was like that, but eventually transcribed it all to be in drop D.

the only downside to a double neck is the weight and neck positions live. im picky about one neck enough as it is, let alone two.

i would much rather have a guitar holding stand and attach my favorite acoustic guitar to that, just turn my electric guitar across my back. its a cool idea to have a 12 string/electric hybrid or a dual 6 string but my back hurts just thinking about it :aww:

Here ya go had Craig O'Donnell build me this 7 string fretless/8 string fretted long scale joint 4 years ago...

Did someone call my name?. It is a neck heavy guitar, but it sounds GREAT. Mine's is a 96 or 97. I'm the original owner.

A few years ago when the Epi SG double went on sale for $499 I got one. It's cool and novelty. I've used it to play "Dead or Alive" once live. It's a heavy guitar. My GF bought me this crazy-expensive padded strap that lightens the load. I can't see playing the thing for more than three songs, even with the nice cushy strap.

Cheers,

I had an Ivory 1275 for about 3 years, I absolutely loved it until the 12 string neck developed a slight twist. I took it and had it heat-treated, and they did fix it, but within a year it came back and I had to dump it
I would have another one in a second though, it would have to be a used one old enough to be sure that would not happen again

Wow, that is awesome. Have you ever put it on a scale, just curious what it weighs?

I have also been curious how the pickup and neck selectors work, can you or anyone describe the neck switch and pickup selector. My biggest question is if both necks are selected, does that put the upper neck pickups and lower neck's pickups in parallel?

Awesome guitar Ed, that looks so intimidating to me at least. Not surprised to see you have a cool double neck like that, you are the man.

Just one question, do you have to workout for 2 months before you can play it for a set?

I've got one, it's an 80-81... it's neck heavy, with chunky necks and terrible fret access and gets more applause then I do.
