Doug Aldrich, Awesome

His solo releases, Bad Moon Rising, Lion, Live with Dio in NYC.. he's a beast.
I haven't really followed his Dead Daisies stuff, and didn't love his tone with Whitesnake. He's also gotten more "noodly" with his playing, vs the Lion stuff which seemed more composed - melodic, yet tasteful shreddy.
Great strat tone on his solo releases & instructional video, and I love his tone on Dangerous Attraction.
I have 2 friends who know him personally, and by all accounts he's a good dude. I've never met him though.

Cracks me up that he auditioned for Kiss
Cracks me up that he didn't get the gig.

:D

Even though Paul started using his amp (Engl E651 Artist Edition).

I really like Doug's playing, but it feels like he almost has become a caricature of himself. I mean that with all the respect in the world. He seems like a nice guy, as long as you don't be a Chippy. I like his work with others, Hurricane, Lion, Bad Moon Rising, Dio, etc. His solo on the House of Lords "Can't Find my Way Home" is an all-timer for me.
