i was wandering if anyone has ever used these pups before.. there suppose to be the same as x2N.. or has anyone ever used any dragonfire pickup before.. if so please give me the pros and cons of these pups.. thanks

i have used the dragonfire actives before, and they sound almost identical to the emg's they are copying aside from the fact that they arent quite as compressed.

i have used the GFS versions of the x2n and the power rails. as a matter of fact i have them in an LTD i have. i would be will to say that they are as close as you are going to get to the real thing without buying the real thing.

i have tried the actual name band versions of these pickups and the difference in tone if any was hardly noticeable, and could be considered to be a change for the better

Dimarzio D-Activators are closer to EMGs, IMHO. The X2N is a high-output pickup that has a fairly flat EQ curve that favors the mids and top-end. It's basically intended to drive the hell out of the front-end of your amp and color the tone as little as possible, hence the flat EQ.

I've tried a few GFS pickups and been happy with every one.

does GFS make a pickup that sounds like d-activators????

the gfs crunchy rails are really close in sound to that of a dactivator. also the dragonfire actives sound very good, and would be a good addition to the esp with the emg81 you mentioned having.

when on a budget :

for actives i would definately go with the dragonfires ... they sound very good

for passives gfs is definately the best cheap alternative out there. the crunchy rails are designed after a d activator, and the power rails are designed after the x2n. there rail type single coils sound killer as well.

which one of the gfs pickups.. would be the best for metalcore/hardcore,,, drop tuning.. drop C,B,A.. I want to put dragonfires actives in my tele but i dont know where to put the battery.. there is no spot for one unless i cut a hole.. so i thought i would get a passive.. one that is beefy, aggressive, bright, very hot, one that is a metal machine.. but im wanting to try out those GFS so if someone could point me in the right direction i would be grateful

I have a set of Dragonfire Screamers in my Agile. Bridge pu sounds ok, don't really like the neck pu, too muddy. I'm a big fan of GFS pu's, have about 4 different sets. Like em all. My favorite might be the Loudmouth. I'll probably try a set of VEH's in the Agile sometime soon.

well okay guys thanks for all the input on dragonfire and GFS pickups... i am going to get GFS Crunchy Rails- Our Hottest- Modern Metal Power- Black on Black, for my tele, and a dragon fire active 85 for my ltd mh-50.. to go along with my emg 81.. and here next month i am going to be getting a washburn x 29.. and i amd going to get the dragonfire active pup set.. so i am really excited about these new pickups...so thanks

the gfs power rails will have more low end than the crunchy rails. both are very hot pickups. either one should suit your needs just fine.
