Keep me away from Jim's house!
I convinced him to "let go" of one of his demo cabs and load it with H75's, 65 watt coils
It came home with me last night:

Sigh...you should have seen him. He tried the H75's in a NAKED straight cab. While I was getting some NOS preamp glass for an amp I just received, he moved his amp on top of the slant cab pictured. When I walked back into the demo room, he was just standing there admiring the look.

Jeez.

It was like that kid in the candy store look..."Dad, can I have it? Can I?" I'm glad I never had kids. I have enough of them in the form of grown men.

So I told him "Fine, you sneaky rat bastid..."

So we unloaded the speakers he just tried, loaded them up in the slant cab, rewired it fresh, soldered in the speakers, tried it out.

He had that happy as a pig in poop look on his face after trying it out, so I sent him home with it.

And I took it in the bunghole on the price, too...on credit until he gets his tax return to boot. I'm far too soft on Carl.

Kids. Sheesh!

Carl had me put on the bluesbreaker reissue cloth for that head a couple of years ago, along with the silver piping.

So it just figured he'd latch onto the cab since it matched his head so well.

He warned me he was bringing over his CA head to try speakers out.

I should have put the cab's cover on before he came over...

What really sucks is when you have someone else play your gear and it sounds better when they play than you do.

I guess that means I need to work on the fretboard instead of the keyboard.

Been there, done that. I have a buddy who has very modest gear. When he comes over to jam, he usually uses my guitars/amps. Most of the times he makes them sound better than I do, thus giving me GAS on my own guitar and/or amp. On one hand its cool to see what my gear can do, but on the other, its very humbling. Usually it inspires me to practice, which is a good thing.
